Nuclear power is safest
For many people, the fear of nuclear power comes from the Chernobyl accident in 1986. The Soviets were basically just begging for an accident to happen. On the other hand, the worst nuclear disaster in American history was the Three Mile Island accident where, due to good planning and numerous safety precautions, the amount of radiation released into the atmosphere was harmless.
While no one can claim nuclear power is risk-free, our current sources of energy are far more dangerous.
