Y. offense far from perfect
Dick Harmon
It was supposed to be a blowout and a 20-point win is sort of, kind of.
We know, we're all supposed to be the Band of Brothers, but on our side, we were kind of the Band of Sisters, playing out a flowerpot script from "Steel Magnolias," "Fried Green Tomatoes," "Beaches," or those TV chicks on "The View" instead of duking it out like the shield-welding Spartan warriors from "300."
Can we have a hug if we keep a top-10 ranking?
We're sorry you guys gave us all those short fields on super take-a-ways from the Aggies in the first half and our only long drive was that first long bomb to our magical brother Austin Collie.
Thanks, Brandon Bradley, for getting that fumble and returning it 38 yards for a touchdown to make it 14-0.
Thanks, Coleby Clawson, for that teeth-rattling hit on Diondre Borel that forced a fumble on USU's third possession, which Matt Bauman recovered for us at midfield. Sorry we only managed a measly field goal out of that one.
Thanks, Brett Denney, for the sack and four tackles for losses. We know you defensive guys were totally exhausted from carrying us all night.
We're sorry for all the dropped passes, failed third-down conversions and stalled drives.
We just weren't ourselves against an Aggie defense ranked 111th out of 119 teams in total defense and 115th in scoring defense.
Yeah, we know New Mexico, TCU and Utah have tougher defenses, but we were, well, just playing without our Midol. That's why we couldn't score 66 on the Aggies like Oregon did, or 58 like the Utes. If only we had them at our house (wink, wink).
Sorry, guys on defense. We couldn't stay on the field and you guys had to do a lot of work battling that Aggie offense and its change-up pitches with those two QBs.
Sorry, you had a lot to make up for with those other guys in blue running 42 plays to our 29 and keeping the ball 18:36 to our 11:24 in the first half. We're sorry Max Hall got sacked for the first time this season and that a field goal got blocked.
Sorry for those two interceptions guys, but we really thought, you know, even in triple coverage, Collie and Dennis Pitta could catch those passes.
Sorry we couldn't dominate the line against the Aggies and help out Fui Vakapuna and Unga a little bit more, but we were kind of out of sync being bigger and stronger, stuff like that.
