BYU

SWIMMING: UNLV is favored to win the 2008-09 Mountain West Conference regular-season title in men's swimming and diving, while BYU has been selected to capture the women's crown as voted on by the league's head coaches.

On the women's side, BYU received seven first-place votes and garnered 63 points to capture first-place acclaim, while Utah collected the other first-place vote to tie with UNLV for second with 54 points apiece.

Utah Valley

VOLLEYBALL: UVU's Kristen Anderson and Allyce Wilson were named the Great West Conference offensive and defensive volleyball players of the week, respectively.

CROSS COUNTRY: UVU's Joshua McCabe was named the Great West Conference cross country men's runner of the week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Wolverines improved to 6-4-1 overall and won their United Soccer Conference opener with a 2-1 win Wednesday at Newark, N.J.

Southern Utah

CROSS COUNTRY: Cameron Levins has been named The Summit League cross country male athlete of the week after his performance at the Notre Dame Invitational over the weekend.
