CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) — A wildfire is burning uncontrolled on a California Marine Corps range used for training in explosives disposal.

Officials at Camp Pendleton say it was not immediately known Wednesday evening whether unexploded ordnance is on the range. It's also not clear how the fire started.

California forestry Capt. Nick Schuler says the blaze is burning through brush and is being aided by winds as it sweeps toward the base's golf course.

Base spokeswoman Priscilla Vitale says that the fire is not threatening any buildings but that the golf course has been evacuated.
