back in the early 80's when there was alot of snow and it warmed up quickly also. The "State Street River" was made. I still have pictures of that flood.

I have pictures of that flood as well. I was only a couple years old, and even my backyard flooded.

I have concern about the lack of present and future flood control planning, that appears to be lacking; coupled with uninformed or misinformed city/county officials who allow questionable building in areas of the state where flooding/land slides/etc. have resulted in unnecessary property losses. Why can't there be more consulting/planning to prevent these travesties? It is appalling. By the way, there are only two or three rivers in Utah (Green, Colorado, San Juan). The rest of the waterways are called creeks and streams. Go back east to become educated. People are just silly to go into the mountains/canyons near runoff time. When bad things happen, then it is stupidity, and not a tragedy. The same thing applies when people ski or mountain climb or any number of activities involving outdoor or indoor activities. Why don't the news media report these events with the proper perspective. That 1983, or whatever runoff event causing creek overflows in Davis/Salt Lake County, and the St. George fiasco just underscores my point about lack of planning and action. Instead we have to throw gazillions of $ at education, and say that is the most critically underfunded part of the State budget. Come on, wake up!!!!

Many residents of Pleasant Grove are at severe risk for flooding. The city refuses to build a proper storm drain system. They continue to allow new development without building the necessary storm drains. They are illegally using old Pleasant Grove irrigation pipes to dump floodwaters. The residents of Pleasant Grove need to demand a new public works director and streets manager. The current public works director Lynn Walker and the streets & storm drain manager Dennis Carter do not have college degrees and they are acting as engineers without being legally licensed engineers. They are frauds and an insult to the tax payers of Pleasant Grove. Anyone who does civil engineering work without a license is subject to civil and criminal liability. Residents should call city hall and demand that they hire licensed Professional Engineers to run the public works department & street department. The Deseret News should do an expose on this situtation.
