Sloan should have benched Boozer. He was nothing but a liability. He faded worse than Tracy MacFady.
Joe Moe | 11:50 p.m. May 16, 2008
Now wait for all the complaints about the referees. Yeah, they were less than stellar. But bad calls went both ways, and in the end the Jazz were sunk by poor defense in the first three quarters, combined with Boozer's funk and the overall lack of offensive rhythm.

It sure was fun there for a minute at the very end, and you have to hand it to the Jazz for not giving up after being down 10-20 points the entire game.

Some people think anyone but the sole top team is a loser, but although I thought the Jazz could do better, they had a good season and played some good ball. See ya next year!
Laker Fan | 11:50 p.m. May 16, 2008
Let the whining begin!!!!!!!!! How many of you are going to cry, cry and cry? How many conspiracy theories? How many crooked refs?

How about Boozer and Okur going 11-34? and big bad booz fouling out?

Face it. The Jazz could have won. They were down by 19 points and came within 2 points. They made one heck of a comeback. 5 straight 3 pointers under pressure. WOW. That was killing me. Sloan is a great coach. Get rid of Boozer and you will have a great team.

But it still wont be good enough to beat the Lakers next year or the next because Bynum will be back. He's a monster.

Enjoy your summer. :)

We almost won the game. Should have played the whole game like the 4th qtr. Another "if only" game. This experience certainly is valuable for our team.
What a game!!! | 11:53 p.m. May 16, 2008
Well done Jazz. What a rally in the forth. You can be proud of yourselves for how far you have gone this season. I love you guys!
To all the negative people out there: Start your engines. Run um down, maybe it will build your self esteem in doing so.
Shaddy | 11:53 p.m. May 16, 2008
Boozer was the worst player on a team where he is paid the most. He has no loyalty and consistently fails to show up (whether its the regular season (home court advantage) or post season (shot in the 30% range for both series))
I propose Elton Brand for Boozer straight across. Brand is a much better shooter and then Jerry can focus on bringing Milsap along. Plus, then Boozer would get to his beloved L.A....it would just be the L.A. that sucks which would be perfect for him.
ID Jazz | 11:55 p.m. May 16, 2008
I don't think this whole series Jazz scored the first basket and many times went down by seven or more. You can't always play from behind every game and expect to win a series.
Jazz need to address there defensive issues this summer. This team needs to get better defensively or we will have the same results next year. I also think Sloan will push Almond and Fes back to the D-league next year because thats what Sloan does.
Will AK be traded? Will CJ be back? Will they keep Hart and or Collins. It should be very interesting to see what happens this summer.
I hope the Jazz Brass make a serious effort to get better this year. Go Jazz
GO LAKERS!!! | 11:55 p.m. May 16, 2008
It did my heart good to see Derek Fisher put the last point on the board tonight even if it was a free throw! Utah Fans what goes around comes around....(instead of boo....it's boo hoo)

Way to go Derek! Glad you are back in LA where you are truly appreciated. Good luck with your daughter.

Maybe some day Derron Williams will become a Laker and the fans will have even more to "boo" about!!

I'm proud of the Jazz for showing a lot of heart in the 4th quarter, it's unfortunate they showed very little at the start of the game. It's time to trade Boozer; he is probably a good guy and all but he is quite possibly the most overrated player in the NBA. His lack of defense killed us throughout this series, never more so than tonight.
Bball Fan | 11:57 p.m. May 16, 2008
Good season. Jazz are a good first to second round playoff team. I really don’t think they are anything more than that with the personnel they have. Time to tweak this summer. Their playoffs ended primarily because of the play of Carlos Boozer – who appears to be a “fair weather” player. When the rough times come, he appears to be soft, ineffective and cowardly (sorry). I think the Jazz need to make a few personnel changes this summer if they hope to go farther next year.

I'm excited for the future, however. They have a lot a good young players.
Loser | 11:59 p.m. May 16, 2008
Calling Carlos Loser. We all know that NBA Stars get star treatment. Yet you are on the bench when your team needs you the most. You disappeared for most of this series. What is it with you? It's not about your coach, your team mates and / or the officials. Is it about money? Could it be you are injured? (Injury seems to work for some NBA star players) Or could it be that you are not really the star that you are paid to be?

Enter commentkobe bryant plays for the perfect team...... Hollywood. Having a performace of the ages , and im not talking basketball. Im talking acting like his back hurt. Bravo , Mr. excuse man! He did it probably if the jazz did beat them , hed have his excuse all ready to go. If he wins hes a hurt fighter, gimme a break! hes the perfect pr guy if you ask me, and Phil jackson is too intelligent a man to make that press conference like that , i saw in his eyes the refs gave him an easy one. Its clear that stern wants a boston laker finals to make money, hes a dinosaur who needs to retire, and kobe should stick to layups and not acting ..... a disgusting showing of officiating tonight itll make u wanna say rigged all over again. now im a spurs fan so i hope the trend of screwing over the home team at home continues.... Go Spurs Go! Sorry utah , keep your heads up because you got robbed by The commishioner and the circus we call the nba...
cnote | 12:03 a.m. May 17, 2008
Wow, where was Boozer this series? Deron was a total stud but Boozer was a total let down. Boozer even shows up a bit in this series and the Jazz move on to the Western finals. Couldn't shoot, couldn't handle the ball and could not defend. Unfortunate to have our one all star completely fail us. Oh well great season Jazz. Hopefully we can add the missing piece over the summer.
S.P. | 12:03 a.m. May 17, 2008
Great year of basketball. Thanks for playing with such heart and discipline. This young, talented team has an extremely bright future.
faith jazz fan | 12:04 a.m. May 17, 2008

Anonymous | 12:07 a.m. May 17, 2008
why are they even playing the confrence finals the nba said it would be great forthe sport if we have the celts and the lakers in the finals if you think its not setup you are not being honest to yourself.and next year the my season ticket are going up wow i want to buy extra seats talk about dishonesty.the jazz and grizzlies owner are the excutives of the year is that true they like getting something for nothing.who can we give away next year.
Great season | 12:13 a.m. May 17, 2008
Just want to say thanks for a great season and congrats to the Lakers. The Jazz will learn from this year and come back stronger next year.

It's been a good year for Jazz basketball, with entertaining games and a decent playoff run. Deron Williams especially has shown what he can become. We're lucky to have a team of this caliber.

As for the Lakers, no hard feelings and good luck next round!
TRADE BOOZER | 12:14 a.m. May 17, 2008
Lets see, ...................... 5 for 16...................... and we think he's an all star??? I cant believe the Jazz almost pulled it off! What a game, Deron Williams was absolutely outstanding. Boozer was ridiculous, we played so much better with out him, when he finally fouled out it was like the Jazz finally dropped their anchor and kicked it into high gear. I hope this off season we see some serious hard work from the team, and some serious movement towards building a CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM! Larry its time, put your money where your mouth is, and put a dominating team on the floor....... I am really questioning if that team includes Boozer....

All in All WHAT A GREAT SEASON, GO JAZZ! I CANT WAIT FOR NEXT SEASON
PowerHouse | 12:14 a.m. May 17, 2008
Congratulations to the Lakers and their fans...

The best team won this series...

Utah Jazz fans....look forward to seasons to come

Thank you Lakers....for a great series....it was fun

Good luck to all you Laker fans in the rest of the finals....may the best team win!
The Other Guy | 12:24 a.m. May 17, 2008
Woohoo! The WWE at its finest! Oh wait, I forgot, I was watching basketball tonight. That's what that round orange thingy was, I was wondering when they'd introduced that as a prop. I was like c'mon guys someone throw in a chair and let them do some real damage!

I love sports and have enjoyed the competitiveness of the NBA, however, this season (season, not just the Jazz-Lakers series) has demonstrated to me beyond doubt that games are decided in the NBA executive boardroom and not on the court. I think the Jazz have a lot of talent and I hope some of our finer players can make it to a franchise where they can receive the respect and recognition they deserve. They gave it a good run, despite insurmountable odds.

You can debate all you want about justifying how the calls don't matter, that the Jazz just "suck" or that I am a whiny fan wearing a tin-foil hat whispering conspiracy-I don't care, you can call me an idiot, it won't change my mind. The evidence speaks for itself, the NBA is a business, not a competitive basketball association.

go boozer, not.
Jazz woes... | 12:28 a.m. May 17, 2008
As much as I enjoy watching Jazz basketball I am growing more and more tired of their inability to go deep in the playoffs and more importantly, to obtain the big prize!!!

Come on Larry, pull off a trade like you did for Korver in a big man! Give the rest of the team what they need to go all the way! I like Memot but the reason we will not win the big prize with him at big man is vividly evident in the last game in LA. Gasol grabbed 2 or 3 crucial rebounds at the end of the game with Memot standing there watching as he dunked them in. Come on, fundamentals... box out... put a body on your man... secure position! Get the rebound period!!! Offensive rebounds in the paint were our demise this season! With as talented and deep as our roster is it comes down to fundamentals! Auuggghhhhh.

Another hopeful season down the drain.

Utah Jazz fans are not happy about lost chances either (other article's title).

We don't want to go down as the team that couldn't. Let's find a big man next year that can take us all the way.
Hope stern gets his moneys worth | 12:31 a.m. May 17, 2008
I am not one to make excuses... But really, what self-respecting laker fan can feel good about this, or the game five win.

I know that the superstars get the calls, but this series it was beyond ridiculous. How can the jazz rally against bogus FOUL AND ONE calls?

I can't wait for the day that Deron holds up that NBA finals MVP trophy. It is going to happen, sooner than later.

Thanks for a great season boys. See you in a few months.
patrickc | 12:35 a.m. May 17, 2008
I'm still mad about Fishers opportunist exit. Without him, the Lakers wouldn't have won. I really hope he understands the booing as it is well deserved.
Ref scandal | 12:40 a.m. May 17, 2008
We lost by four...WIth Kobe's last two fouls called for him...which resulted in five points...that is the game for Utah...wow..way to go Stern, you got your wish!! Lakers and Celtics here we come!!
8 vs. 5 | 12:43 a.m. May 17, 2008
It's hard for the Jazz to win when the game is 8 verses 5.
Steve | 12:43 a.m. May 17, 2008
Jazz showed some serious heart in the fourth. If only they didn't suck coming out of the gate. Good season. Let's see if they can do better on the road next season and maybe get a couple rounds of homecourt in the playoffs.
Out of town'r | 12:45 a.m. May 17, 2008
Did anybody notice after bloozer left the game how much better the play came about. 5-16 again a sub par shooting night and as per usual NO defense.
And he said "I need to see the ball more" RIGHT !
Anonymous | 12:45 a.m. May 17, 2008
Don't like to use any excuse but even TV analyst from different channel in Hong Kong and China said:

in Game 5, Kobe was having star treatment from the ref.
in Game 6, on another channel, they couldn't believe the defensive foul calls against the Jazz late in the 4 quarter.

Well, the Jazz didn't help themselve by allowing too many easy basket...

I love the Jazz when they played with energy. But there's still a lot to improve. Anyway, thanks a lot for a great season!

Hey Jazz fans, thank you all for the comments contributed. These days, I read more comments than the story itself.

Go Jazz!!!
fesswyo | 12:51 a.m. May 17, 2008
With the current roster the Jazz will never make a run at the championship. They have NO defensive presence. You need to either ship Boozer or Okur out and get rid of Andre while you are at it. Missing practice for that reason is unacceptable. This team is soft and slow and until they find some players with a little grit and heart we are going nowhere. D Will and Milsap are studs, but everyone else could be used for trade bait.
LVJazzFan | 12:53 a.m. May 17, 2008
So close. I almost turned the game off, and would have missed one of the finest comebacks of the year. Honestly, I don't think the Lakers could have played a better three quarters and the Jazz could not have played worse. Kirilenko was the man with those back-to-back threes to get them close.

Good job Jazz! Learn from the myriad of mistakes you made in those first quarters and maybe next year you will be able to hoist that first banner.
Boozer the Friendly Ghost | 12:59 a.m. May 17, 2008
Jermaine O'Neal for Carlos Boozer...Get 'er done Larry.
20 and 10 against the patsies of the NBA doesn't mean anything. Especially when he gives up so much on the defensive end against all teams.
Deron Williams is the heart and soul of this franchise. Pay the man Larry.
We only get better is Boozer goes down the road. Nice guy...not a corner stone of a franchise.
Anonymous | 12:59 a.m. May 17, 2008
-Last regular season home game vs. the Lakers.
-The last game of the reg season vs. the Spurs.
-Game 3 of the Houston series.
-Game 6 of the Lakers series.

All huge games where there was a lot on the line, and all games where the Jazz never showed up. This team will amount to nothing until they decide to compete in the biggest, scariest games they come across. Thanks Jazz for embarassing yourselves and showing as much heart as the Tin Man until the last five minutes of the game (except for you Williams -- you're the MAN!)
Bob | 1:03 a.m. May 17, 2008
Bye-bye Boozer.
We love our Jazz! | 1:03 a.m. May 17, 2008
At least we gave it a nice fight at the end. We turned an embarrassing loss into a respectable loss. Hopefully we can learn from this series and come back stronger next year. Go Jazz!

Anyone else no longer care to watch any of the teams left in the playoffs? Especially if the Spurs beat the Hornets...I won't watch a single game the rest of the way.
Good season | 1:05 a.m. May 17, 2008
What an amazing finish. Jazz fans should be very optimistic about their future. Deron Williams is turning into a superstar. What a fabulous talent. I hope the Lakers-Jazz rivalry intensifies in the coming years, and they face each other in the Conference Finals year after year.
Jazz Future | 1:07 a.m. May 17, 2008
PG - D-Will, R. Price
SG - R. Brewer, K. Korver, M. Almond
SF - AK, C.J. Miles, M. Harpring
PF - Jermaine O'Neal or Udonis Haslem and P. Millsap
C - M. Okur, K. Fesenko

See ya - Boozer, Collins & Hart

Pull the trigger on getting rid of Boozer...no defense and a totally overrated 20 and 10 guy. Getting 20 and 10 against teams that you aren't going to see in the playoffs in worthless come May and June. And besides if you give up so much on the defensive end, how much do your offensive stats matter anyways?
Chick-N-Stu | 1:11 a.m. May 17, 2008
Nice series, Jazz fans. Your team is tough and will be someone to contend with for years.
Die hard Jazz fan | 1:15 a.m. May 17, 2008
Well as much as it pains me congrats to the Lakers. Kobe came up big and that is why ihe is the MVP. Kudos to our Jazz fr showing the heart to keep battling. Where was that intensity all game? I still got your back Booz. I know Booz struggled but I still like this team. The offseason will be interesting. This was the funnest series to watch in the playoffs. It gave 4 close games. So SAVE the NEGATIVITY Jazz fans, we love our team. We had a great year, let's get ready for next year. No excuses, the Jazz did not match the Lakers intensity from start to finish.
kwt | 1:17 a.m. May 17, 2008
Yes the Jazz lost tonight. I just have a hard time not believing that Derek Fisher is a Trader. If the jazz had it to do over, I think they should have insisted he go to either an Eastern Conference team or to a non rival team in the west. To think back at what the Jazz did for him last year and then to basically kick us in the teeth this year by him going to one of the most hated teams that Jazz fans have. I don't buy his little sob story about his daughter being the reason he wanted out of Utah. I really think he had it planned all along to go to the Lakers. All through this series it was like he knew exactly what we were doing. To make it worse , in their huddles you could see him tell the team what to do also. I don't think he will ever be respected by me again. After all the Jazz did for him last year to let him take care of his daughter, then to walk out on us gives me no reason to respect him at all.
Laker Fan | 1:26 a.m. May 17, 2008
Well Jazz fans I must admit I was scared the last 2 mins of the game. You guys have a good team. The last two games the Jazz showed how dangerous they can be, they just need to learn to finish. After Kobe pushed the lead from 5 to 11 it would have been easy to quit but you guys battled. It's good to get a little revenge from the 90's when you knocked us out twice but you guys have a great team.
Intensity | 1:28 a.m. May 17, 2008
If only..... that is the story of game 5 and 6. The Jazz dug a whole both games. Hopefully this is a building block for our young team you cannot dig a whole but need intensity all game. Man I hate the Lakers, I hope anyone but L.A. wins it now but props to the Lakers, just someone please beat them now. We still love the JAZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boozer | 1:30 a.m. May 17, 2008
Lay off of Carlos. He is unfairly compared to Karl Malone, a basketball legend. Folks, he is not Karl Malone. However he still has many years left. Work hard Carlos, see ya next year. Carlos will bounce back. Jazz have a team that will contend for years. This was fun season to watch.
role players | 1:33 a.m. May 17, 2008
The Lakers role players played good. That was the difference. Radmonavich, Vujacic, Walton all hit big shots. The Lakers also kept the crowd out of it most of the game which was a factor. This Jazz team is growing, I expect big things next year. Keep your head up Carlos, we love ya through good and bad. D Will is a stud. What a great future in store for us. We have a treat here as Jazz fans. Good job to the Lakers although they are public enemy number one. Kobe was the MVP for a reason.
Anonymous | 2:12 a.m. May 17, 2008
Bravo on a successful season. Taking the Lakers to 6 games was a respectable finish. I'm sure we are all disappointed in the end because the team that showed up tonight is not the team we know the Jazz can be. It was obvious that they didn't psychologically snap back from game 5. Hopefully they will learn from it, and take the toughness into next year.
Boozer is AWOL | 4:48 a.m. May 17, 2008
Boozer does play defence but unfortuntly its WNBA defence. All series long Odom, not an All Star, schooled Boozer the All Star on both sides of the court.

Boozer is a liability if he plays like Malone in big games... it's about winning a championship I could care less about division titles.
I knew all along | 6:06 a.m. May 17, 2008
that the Lakers were going to win last night. I knew there wasn't going to be a Game 7. Kobe will put in the dagger when he has a team down. The Jazz have a great young point guard in Williams who will only get better with experience. Instead of bashing Boozer and his terrible play, people might wanna start giving props to Gasol and Odom because their length and size clearly bothered him. The Jazz gave the Lakers all they could handle and this experience will help the Lakers as well as the Jazz. Just think about next year though. We are in the Western Conference Finals and there is no Andrew Bynum. Yikes! for the rest of the league for the next five to six years.
Laker fan now in Utah | 7:21 a.m. May 17, 2008
I have to give the Jazz fans some credit. I thought they were going to go off on bad officiating and conspiracy theories. But you haven't. Except for the Derek Fisher hater, who apparently cares less about a little girl who needs better care, the posts have been very appropriate. (At least your owner has some class and handled the situation with respect. But then again you probably understand the situation alot better than he does.)

I'm a die hard Laker fan who now lives in Utah. I was expecting a bunch of crying about the loss. You guys surprised me. The Jazz are a great team. You had us all pretty nervous. Congrats on a great season.

But, in the end, Go Lakers!
