I think Idol needs Cook to give it lift lets get a real talent to win someone with staying power , someone with edge........not just a one hit wonder like the last few years . America make yourself proud of something..there hasn't been much lately

I fail to see the relevance of this story...

Let's hope he takes the better prize - 2nd.
Then his future won't be so controlled by the Idle/Idol producers, and he already has all the fame he needs.

Matchsticks or money, betting is betting and god is watching.
Re: Newsworthy? | 8:33 a.m. May 19, 2008
I'm getting sick of people like "Newsworthy" that get on the D News websited to critique what is newsworthy and what isn't. D.A. has been a huge news story for months and it's good to know what his odds of winning are. It's nice to get a little off the path of the bad news that is out there and bring us something of interest.
I too hope he takes 2nd place. It seems like the most of the winners of A.I. fizzle and fade. The runners up have done well historically.

Lets hope this gives people more a incentive to vote vote tommorrow,David deserves our support whether we think it is better for him to take second or first. That is irrelevant we should still support him with our votes and then let whatever happens be okay.

God is watching those who are holier than thou too!

It is amazing he has come this far...he is young, and very talented. yes..he will will get our vote, but if he does lose..how many of us COULD be so lucky to have done the amazing things he has, while only still being in high school. His talent will go on. He has many years ahead of him.

David, here's some advice from an unknown 48 year old homemaker: Take second place if you possibly can (since it's too late to take 3rd or 4th, not to mention 7th or 9th). Then get ready for and serve a mission (there are still a few places you can serve where you'll be unknown). You still seem sufficiently unspoiled for this purpose, despite your exposure. In three years, when you're 21, come back and see if any of this matters to you anymore--it probably won't. But if it does, you'll be better prepared to do it. If you choose to stay on the path you're on instead, you'll get what the entertainment industry has to offer--Hard hearts and emptiness. God does not need the sacrifice of your growth and development to broadcast His message. That's a mistaken assumption many "Mormon idols" make. Take Pres. Eyring's advice given to some ambitious young people years ago: "Be obscure." Dare to let it go, and see if God brings it back to you.
I know this is a feeble way to get to young David, but maybe someone who knows and cares about him and has access to him will pass it along.

People, this is all ridiculous. Both David's are incredible and both are winners. The popularity vote is over. Give them both a hand for their success. Winning isn't everything and both of them have reached their goal. Number one and number two and able to perform on a stage in front of the world. I think both can rejoice
Re: Cindy is Insane | 1:54 p.m. May 19, 2008
You obviously don't believe as David does. Nor do you have the morals, values or standards he does. Please leave the advise giving to those who do. Your suggestions would certainly not bring him happiness - momentary pleasure, maybe, but not happiness. Anybody with any sense knows that.
We'll let him decide and it certainly won't be with you.

Both are worthy of being the Idol, although neither is "superstar" material. My bet is on Cook. Archuleta will not be harmed in any substantial way. He has so much growing to do, in so many ways. It's just too soon for him. Cook has won over more people overall, I believe . . . we will soon find out if I'm right. But, bottom line, both are very talented, very likeable guys.

There isn't much doubt who has the better voice - that would be David Cook. But it seems American Idol voting is more a popularity contest than anything else, so who knows who will win.

To the Author, Aaron Faulk:
Shame on you! This article is distasteful and disrespectful to David Archuleta and his fans. Why do you pick on David Archuleta, an innocent 17 year old kid? He earned his place in the top two finalist for American Idol. David Archuleta deserves more respect for his hard-earned achievements.

To Newsworthy: I have to laugh! It must be newsworthy.. at least enough for you to be unable to resist the urge to click on the article and read it!
Archie: I agree that 2nd Place just might be the "real win"... history has shown that coming in first is not necessarily the guaranteed formula for long-term success.
In General: Both Davids have shown great talent and potential. They each have a unique style and voice. Both will develop and grow in ways we (and they) may not see now. I hope the Buzzards of the music industry and 'adoring public' don't rip them apart and pick them both to pieces before they've had a chance to reach their full potential--both personally and professionally.

I would never think of trying to give Archuleta advice on what to do with his life. His parents have done a great job of raising an intelligent, clean-cut, talented son, who has more talent than a dozen like David Cook.
What's wrong with being clean-cut? These weird looking so-called rockers who look like they haven't taken a bath in months, that Simon is pushing for will never be in the same league as David Archuleta.
DA also knows how to dress. I don't want to guess who must be dressing DC.

At the end of the day: David Archuleta will WIN.
Darryl | 6:11 p.m. May 19, 2008
David A. is for real "real". He is got to be so scared about tomarrow All I am reading is DA is going to get beat by DC. That is so darn unfair. It truly is playing on his mind and is very upsetting to DA fans to hear. We need to just let it happen. Betting on it,gambling on it. What are we teaching our kids about values of humans. I am sorry that is not the standard I feel David Archuleta has. Let things go and lets the winner be the winner by talent. David Archuleta does not need to win for real. He has already won the big race. The love of his GOD and himself. I bet, the most of the public as well. GOD Bless David A.

David A. has ten times the talent of David C. I don't understand why people think Cook is "original" and "versatile". As far as I can see, his only talent is to scream every song. David A's performances have been amazing. I can't stop watching "Imagine", "The Long and Winding Road", and "Smokey Mountain Memories" on You Tube. That's what I want to hear on a CD, not Cook's screaming. David A. deserves to win, and I wish him the best. Even if he comes in 2nd, I'll be buying his CD the day it comes out.

All I have to say is that my support is fully behing the best voice in this competition...David Archuleta. This kid has given me and my daughters something to share with one another...and for that I thank him and his family.
I don't care about odds or uneducated guesses. Let's just see where the votes land and go from there. There is nothing wrong with being wholesome and sincere...I know I'll buy any CD this kid puts out. I am tired of faked personalities.
All along people have been comparing Cook to Daughtry. Must be sad to not have your own identity...and your success hoped for on the likeness of someone who has already been there and done that.
Newsworthy my arse! This is just another subjective article aimed to deter votes for one contestant.
DAVID ARCHULETA FOR THE WIN!!!!

Archie is 10 times the performer that Cook will ever be! Its ridiculous that Cowell actually endorsed Cook!

Excuse me?? Momentary happiness?? But joining the celebrity world and being chewed up and spit out in a tangled mess is long-lasting happiness?? You disgust me! Cindy knows what she's talking about

David Cook will be able to handle the media and all the "crap" that will come after his win, if that is his destiny. Believe me, the press loves to eat, chew and spit out celebrities. David Archuletta is too young and I don't believe will be able to stand up to it all.
It is true, it is probably better to come in second in this contest because of the control AI has over the winner's first album (at least). And over the winner's life for that matter.
American Idol does prefer someone they can control, control, control, so in that regard, David Archuletta would be the best selection.
David Cook will be fine either way -- 1st or 2nd because he has been performing and singing for years.
For all-around best talent of the two, my pick is David Cook. And I will be voting for him tonight--and I haven't voted for anyone since since Season 5. In fact, I haven't watched the show since Season 5 until two weeks ago.

Let's face it, and be fair. David Archuleta is only 17 years old. however, he is one of the best contestants to stand in the stage of American Idol. He has earned his place on the hearts of the fans, and there is nothing wrong with being young. Second or first he is already a winner because of his talent.

DAVID A IS AN INSPIRATION AND A TRUE AMERICAN IDOL
Debbie | 7:16 p.m. May 25, 2008
Bothered me a LOT that his father was so involved. Seemed very unfair to the others. Guardianship I will buy, "butting in", I will not. Very happy Cook won. A gentleman and professional. Sorry to say Archuleta is just too young. Give him another 5-8 years.
