Cook Won. David A will always be a winner to me. A fine effort my young friend

Prediction that Archuleta will win, but Cook will become the famous one.

David Cook won.David Archuleta showed such maturity about the results. He was genuinely happy for Cook. David A. has made his mark. His family and friends can always be proud of this young man. To both of the David's...."Live long and prosper" !

David A definitely has the better talent. I would have liked to see him win. Hope his dad isn't too mad about him not winning.

Ahwww! I am a bit disapointed, but our little David will still be a star. My daughters teacher at school told her class that we should hope he only got 2nd so that he would not be "trapped" in a contract and have more freedom. At the time I was unhappy she shared her opinon with the class and hoped they would still vote for David A, but now I hope she is right. Good Luck David A and we hope your future is full and bright!

Good job David.A. you did a really great job! put me in tears that you didnt win, but you are my "IDOL" your a lucky guy,follow your dreams you got a big feature ahead!

How Brillant! Thanks alot Simon, NOT! Your comment in the finale to David A. about how the night was a knock-out for him just fueled the fire and Cook fans were out to prove you wrong. Good Strategy since you already announced on Jay Leno that you hoped Cook would win. You knew how it would play out in Cooks favor. Oh, and good save, way to cover yourself at the end of the result show. You found out the outcome and didn't want to look dumb in front of millions, so you apologized for being hard on him. Honestly I like David C., but David A. was my #1 choice. This is only one persons humble opinion and probably not worth much. David A., you're AWESOME and you'll go far!

I am so sad out here in the heart land broke my heart that David A. didn't win. But to me he did win. He has the best singing voice and the character to go with it. He is such a fine young man and I look forward to hearing more about him in the future. Now he can go on his mission. He could get some CD's out there before he goes to help him on his mission. Stop harassing David's father for the love of pete

This whole show is being manipulated---David A's Dad is being used as a scapegoat so that it draws attention away from the fact that there are "influential" people who just did NOT want David A. to win. Simon's "apology" to Cook was a fake also; Simon is WAY too smart and way too ahead of the game for that. He has known the outcome all the way along and he knows how to get what he wants and get himself off the hook as well. Many, many viewers are questioning the whole voting process on the show and justifiably so. Someone needs to come up with an HONEST competing show---SOON!!!

If this was a national election and David A. was a democrat, he would say the election was rigged and that the election was stolen. How many dead people voted for David Cook?

It's not like David A. is going to disappear. Many Idol runner-ups and below have went on to have very successful careers. He didn't NEED to win.

David A. was soooooo robbeed!!!! THe producers were splashing willy nilly that they wanted Cook to win. Funny how that worked. Oh well. David A. will wind up a star, and David C. will be relagated to Idol recaps. So maybe it was for Arch's own good that he lost...

Are you kidding me? Cook better than Archuleta. I'm glad Archuleta did not win so he could have more freedom. Archuleta got everything Cook did from the show but the handcuffs that come from the American Idol record deal. Cook better than Archie, you made me laugh John.

I loved the final. Cook was awesome as was Archuleta. Because Cook won doesn't change the fact that both were great and both have a loyal fan base. Cook was my favorite but my 9 year old daughter cried for 1/2 hour when David A didn't win. She is a loyal fan and will be much more of a loyal fan then I will.

Sour grapes saying that David A is better off finishing second, so he won't be "trapped" by the, let's see, what's been mentioned here, the "handcuffs" of AI, the "evil AI manipulators", etc. Every one of you knows that you would be cheering if he won, and he got to be a part of the "evil" AI machine.

But it's irrelevant, anyway.

Two problems: first, the record deal is with Sony BMG, which is probably the best record label out there, in terms of marketing power and distribution potential.

And TWO, and even more important than the first, Simon's deal with AI gives him the rights to the top 2 finalists. That means he has first dibs to both Davids. He'll likely sign both, and little David A will still be part of the evil manipulators. Sour grapes, people!!

I have heard your same arguement on several boards and I think it is completely ridiculous. You can't be serious and think that Cook won only because of his hard comments towards him. If that were the case then Jason would have won. Is it really that hard to believe that David cook just had more fans than David Archuleta? With Cook winning by 12 million votes I would say that Cook had a lot more fans than Archuleta. And just to put it into perspective of how many votes that really is just think of New York City. It is pretty big and has a lot of people. Well each person in New York City would have to vote almost 1 1/2 times to make up the 12 million votes. Just admit that Cook has more fans and quit crying over a competition. It is not the end of the world. David Cook was not the better singer but he was more experienced and his experience helped him win over more of the crowd, not Simon being hard on him.
