David Archuleta was by far the most talented of the two Davids. He had the "drive" and the ability to win. He DID win, what are the voters thinking of ? Is this a true vocal competition ? Archuleta was definately the superior vocalist.

Archuletta rules. He will probably go further in his career than David Cook.

Archuleta should have won. This just shows the impotence of Americans.

The show is called "American Idol", it's not just a singing competition. It's about the contestant that most embodies the "Pop Star" persona. Archuleta didn't have that. Of course they are both very talented singers, I'm not trying to take anything away from Archuleta, I'm sure he'll have a good career.

To the two Anonymous posters and Agree....

Did you guys actually vote?

By your comments I'm guessing not. You can't complain about the outcome if you didn't participate in the process.

David Archuleta is a winner anyway and I believe that he will be successful in anything he strives for. He is a great kid and he has a lot going for him. I wish him the very best.

This article was fun to read. I enjoyed the quotes from Archuleta fans you wouldn't expect. It made me laugh... in a good way. David A has great talent, and is a great guy. I watched their performances on utube, he way out performed David C. That proves he IS "pop star" material. (Oh, but then, I didn't vote. How dare I comment! Nevermind the fact I have a toddler, and baby to take care of, and am pregnant, and need some freaking sleep. Like I'm going to stay up past 2am trying to vote for something only a person half my age would care that much about. Pesky priorities.) I still have the right to my opinion that he knocked David C out. :)

ok people quit whining. it did not happen to you. david cooke was definitely the best choice due to being a versatile singer. david can only do ballads and i do say he does a great job, but that can get boring. please let him grow up and mature in his own time. he seemed fine with the choice and i was impressed with his thankfulness he showed. that was him speaking, not his father. he should be very proud of himself. i am glad david cook won as now i don't have to listen to the news which only talks about david a. its bad enough that the only stations i get where i live is utah news.
To Thanks DN... | 10:24 a.m. May 22, 2008
Maybe if you didn't have so many young kids you would have time to vote. I bet you're 19 too.

Lil David he is special, stunned that he did not win AI. I am sure that he is going to become a great asset in the music industry. Waiting to hear the voice that sent the chills up and down my spine.
David's voice is an instrument, a beautiful gift.
Wishing him all the best that life can offer.

Both Davids are amazing and will do great. They will have theor own genres and be amazing...
Dee | 12:31 p.m. May 22, 2008
Both David's are great musicians in their own aspects of the music industry. Rembering my high school years....if I had been built up so positively like David A was on Tuesday night (especially by Simon)....I would have been devastated by the outcome on Wednesday evening. Hoping David A. will continue his musical career...I enjoyed his soothly voice for a change of pace. David C will go far in the rock industry...but we need more of the David A voice in this hectic world today! Wishing David A the very best....move onward and upward---I'll be waiting (impatiently) for your sound to be coming through that ol' radio SOON!!!!!

Congratulations to David Cook but I was disappointed that David Archuleta didn't win. I think he has a powerhouse of a voice - a voice that will work in any musical genre. I wish him all the best and am sure he will go far in his musical career. Just think - just l7 years old and a voice that is captivating!

Both Davids are wonderful. Personally I preferred David A. I was not surprised though that David C. won. I look forward to following the careers of both performers. I thought the Collective Soul song "The World I Know" was much better than he was given credit for as well as U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" Anyway it is all over now. David A. is a fine young man. I wish he and his family all the best for the future.
jt | 12:42 p.m. May 22, 2008
mary, no not every genre. he can't sing anything but ballads. ok for a few songs, but gets boring
TB | 12:44 p.m. May 22, 2008
Great job to both David's!! May they both be successful and may they both remember how they got where they are today.

To Mary Perifimos

" a voice that will work in any musical genre..."

Did you hear him sing With You by Chris Brown? You must have missed that one cause it obviously showed his voice doesn't work for "any genre".

David A is still MY American Idol. By far the best singing voice. He will have a record deal before the end of the year, or perhaps a Broadway stint. His voice is powerful, sensitive and he believes in what he sings. He feels the words! I wish him luck, success and much happiness. David, always remain true to yourself, do not change for anyone! You, as far as I am concerned, is what a 17 year old young man should be. I love the innocence about you.
Bonnie | 2:09 p.m. May 22, 2008
Archuleta should have won. He has the better of the voices. He was very humble unlike Cook's big-headed attitude. Archuleta listened to the judges comments and tried to improve each week. A person can listen to Archuleta's voice for hours. I wouldn't listen to Cook's voice 5 seconds. If he came on the radio, I would change channels. I don't plan to ever watch the show again because Archuleta didn't win. I pray he will continue in the music business and pass Cook's sales.
Tried to Vote | 2:16 p.m. May 22, 2008
To those complaining that those making comments probably didn't even vote. Some of us were denied the opportunity. Try calling for 4 straight hours with the results being a recording "You're call did not go through." I would have preferred the "all systems busy" recording. At least I would have been more assured the phone system was working for Archuletta....and yes I tried all 3 numbers.
Oh and to Ty...You must have missed "Shop around." His voice certainly worked on that one.

This kid is exceptionally talented and there is no doubt about it he is really A Great Singer for his age. I hope he get David Foster as his producer that will be a plus for his music career. I am done with American Idol I only did watch it because of David Archuleta. Hey, David not winning American Idol isn't everything it is just the beginning for A NEW HORIZON FOR YOU KIDDO. Just be true to yourself and remain humble for your loyal fans will always support you thru thick or thin. Remember WE LOVE YOU.
Kelly | 4:46 p.m. May 22, 2008
David soo should have won!! He was way better than David Cook. David A had a better voice and got into the music more than David C
Anonymous | 5:08 p.m. May 22, 2008
David A you ROCK, I don't care what the judges said; you are my American Idol! You did awesome! I think you will go way farther than David C. You are an awesome person with great values and don't ever let anyone take that away from you. I voted for you 50 times plus my other sisters did too. You listened to the advice of the judges and thats what really counts. You are a young man who has a great potential. You sang Imagine so well I almost cried. You have soo much passion. Thanks for being on American Idol it helped me get through the weeks because it was something to look forward to. I loved tour voice too. Thanks Again and remember we still love you and I will be the first person to bye your CDs. You are a great singer no matter what anybody says. Good luck to your new life that lays a head of you

To: jt... so easy for you to say what you did.
If your David had lost who would be whining then?
Don't say not yourself.
Teenage girl voters | 6:14 p.m. May 22, 2008
My small perception of AI is that a big majority of the viewers are teen-age girls.....if that's accurate that definitely gives an edge to teen-age heart throb types. DC fits that description a little better than DA who is by far the superior singer but doesn't quite measure up in the heart-throb test...at least not yet.
Nobody in the final 3 lost anything....they were all winners in my opinion.
Jackie Opdenaker | 7:07 a.m. May 23, 2008
How could they let the wrong David win?

David Cook can't even sing> He screams.
David Archeletta has a beautiful voice & you could listen to him all day.

I will never watch Idol agaion. It is too fixed. How anyone could compare the 2 David's when there was no contest.

cook stinks!!!!!!!!!
huh | 3:43 p.m. May 23, 2008
to Jackie Opdenaker

12 Million more votes says that Cook does not stink. And I can promise you that Cook does not scream. I will send you some screaming music if you want and there is such a big difference. He doesn't even come close to screaming. And I can only handle 2 songs from Archuleta before I have to change it.
Brent | 6:06 p.m. May 23, 2008
Archie's record deal will give him an opportunity to hone his skills with songs other than ballads. Geez, he's 17 years old and people are saying he can't sing anything except ballads, like he's all washed up with no future !! He's got lots and lots of time to learn new tricks.
Archie Fan | 5:05 p.m. May 25, 2008
Not only is David Archuleta a better singer than Cook, he is an amazing person. He was such a good sport in saying that he is happy for Cook because he though Cook deserved it. What a nice kid! How can anyone say anything negative about him?

I'm sure that if Cook didn't get the title, some of his fans would definitely be whining. In fact, some of Cook's fans can't even win graciously. They still have to put down Archuleta. What a Shame!

As long as David Archuleta continues to have a winning attitude and work hard for his endeavors, he is going to have a very bright and rewarding future. GO ARCHIE! You deserve the very best!
Gatorbee | 9:06 a.m. May 26, 2008
David Archeletta is definitely the Idol winner...regardless! There is no match to the quality of his voice on that show...Young and old alike and those between, recognize the beautiful singing talent that he posesses...The rockers who love the scream and raspy voices call the shots. I just wish our young generation would see real talent and choose to listen to it... I personally will not watch another season of the IDOL. I think it is fixed!
Rick | 12:41 p.m. May 26, 2008
Can't wait for Archuleta's CD
