The way so many churches work has always confused me. Why do people think that men (and women) can vote to change God's laws? They did it way back during the Nicean Creed, and they've done it repeatedly since. Just because people decide to change their minds doesn't mean that God has.

I never get why people can attack my faith so easily and love any other.

People unite for one cause SO strongly. 'I get what I want.'

MY religion lets me do this.... MY RELIGION lets me do this.... This is untrue simply by how it was formed.

You cannot DECIDE what is truth in Heaven, on Earth, and to God's throne. You have no authority and no truth in you if you make up or vote on what you call truth.

Any religion which preaches that they vote or decide truth ought to say it is wrong. A religion which receives from a higher authority or position would be the only truth to be found. If a religion states that they do not claim authority over God's word by writing up their own commandments then they prove their falsehood.

Joseph Smith claimed to receive revelation and receive authority with the laying on of hands from the way that the prophets of old set forth. Any other claim must prove itself false by the claiming of anything accept RECEIVING truth. You cannot write it. Some religions may claim this contest. 99.99% admit this guild with actions like these. Pure truth!

It is interesting to witness a democratic body directing the will of God. Does God rule the Church, or is it a popularity contest?

I am not a Catholic, but I have great respect for their doctrinal stability. Perhaps this is why Catholicism will outlast Anglicanism.

I have great empathy for the large body of Anglicans whose beliefs are at the mercy of progressive liberals who have hijacked their faith.

you all need to type more clearly, it gives others a headache trying to figure out what you are saying. Please use punctuation!!!!!!!!!

The Anglican Church got it's authority from Parlament back in the days of King Henry the VIII. (Not to mention the King himself).

This church is the greatest example of a man made church that I know of. It comes as no surprise that they are having these divisive problems.

Perhaps Parlament also has authority to Seal in Heaven and Earth?, or perhaps to raise the dead? Perhaps Parlament should be the one's to get a revelation from God and Jesus to see what they think of the whole matter? After all it doesn't seem like the leaders of the church prayed about this decision.

I find it interesting that the word "prayer" is never mentioned in this article, it seems sad to me that none of the top leaders of the Anglican Church never thought to "ask" the very God they claim to worship what his will would be in this matter. I see the church as simply drifting along tossed by very wind of doctrine, with no real leadership except for that which is made in the minds and hearts of mere mortals.

It would make interesting fodder for these columns should the church of Utah, the greatest manmade church not to admit it, decide to 'receive prophecy' in this direction. Oh, to let it be so.
Mormons have split too | 11:19 p.m. July 7, 2008
Let's not get superior. Mormonism has experienced several splits: Church of Christ, FLDS, etc.

I thought Mormons from the top down voted to sustain leaders? Is not that voting on something? I am sad however that the Church of England is bowing to the modern pressure and demanding that all traditionalists accept Women Bishops. For a faithful catholic Christian Roman or Anglican, the validity of the sacrament of Holy Orders is crucial. If a woman bishop's Holy Orders are invalid then what she does in ordaining other bishops, priests, and deacons may also be invalid. Catholic order also means that decisions like this must rely on a great council of the church including the Roman and Orthodox branches to reach accord. In Mormon terms, it would be like the Mexican Mormons deciding to ordain women to the priesthood without the consent of Salt Lake and the church leadership and then forcing the rest of the LDS church conform. I realize the Pope or Prophet element is not in this mix but perhaps the point is made. There really must be mutual respect for all the faithful and above all else Christain love.

All religion is man-made. The brain-washing at youth sustains them all.
