I echo the sentiments expressed in the article that it's a sad day for Utah County and UVU, but a great day for the rest of the state.

Bill Sederburg is an extremely capable leader that has done a tremendous amount at the university he's leaving. Best of luck to him in his new position, and best of luck to UVU in finding a replacement. Both have bright futures ahead.
Agreed! | 7:04 a.m. July 9, 2008
I agree with Steve. Bill has done a fantastic job for UVU and will be very effective in his new role as Commissioner. Go bet em, Bill!

Pres. Sederburg has done a fantastic job at the helm of UVU, and he will bring terrific energy to the state. If there is some way to clone him, UVU should seriously consider it.

Remember Michael Moore | 8:16 a.m. July 9, 2008
This is the same Sederburg who supported his student body president when he insisted on paying Michael Moore $40,000 to deliver one of his diatribes, in the name of "FREE speech", at UVSC.

He has, like the man he is replacing, blind spots, that might best be described as falling under the heading of "Education Establishment Extremism".

Yeah, that Sederburg is a real extremist. What we really need is a strong leader as the next Pres. of UVU who will zealously read public opinion polls in Utah County and shape policy accordingly regardless of the desires of student government, faculty, and other stakeholders. Freedom of Speech is over rated anyway - those founding fathers were revolutionary extremists, too!

If only Hitler or Hussein were still available...
Concurrent Enrollment | 11:04 a.m. July 9, 2008
in Utah is DEAD. He hates it.
good ridance | 11:49 a.m. July 9, 2008
Concurrent Enrollment is just another name for giving full credit for half the work. If High School students think they can handle a college load, let them take the classes at SLCC or online classes that several universities offer. If they did that then their work would actually ean something.
And what's wrong with that? | 11:51 a.m. July 9, 2008
To concurrent enrollment: what's wrong with killing it? That would be the best thing to happen to high school students in years. If they really want to be ready for college courses, take an AP class with a test to see if the material is mastered. Utah has the wackiest concurrent enrollment system I've ever seen and it's a tremendous disservice to our young people. Implement a system with some teeth and rigor.

The Stdent Government chose to have Moore come and speak. It was the STUDENTS decesion to do this. Not Pres. Sederburg.

He will do a great job with his new position. UVU will miss him a lot!
Seriously? | 10:06 p.m. July 9, 2008
We're still talking about Michael Moore? Seriously?

Coming from a student who was there, went to both Michael Moore and Sean Hannity's speeches and thought neither guy should be someone who anyone should glean their opinion from, bringing someone like Michael Moore to UVSC was an awesome experience. It was disgraceful how some members reacted, but I would hope that whoever replaces President Sederburg would veto the decision to bring ANY speaker to UVU.

(FYI - because the school had to pay for the travel expenses for Sean Hannity's "free" visit to speak actually cost the school MORE than Micheal Moore's bill, so let's drop the "it wasn't that I disagree with Michael Moore, it's that they spent SO much money)
