I love Charles Krauthamer. He is dead on as usual. Obama is someone with no qualifications and an ego as big as all outdoors. I just pray that the American people will figure this out before the election. Otherwise we're going to end up with an incompetent, inexperienced guy who hasn't a clue where he's going.

Pray for our country.

Moving forward, he's our best hope.

Anonoymous,

Yes, for those of us who don't have a clue where we are moving forward to, he's our best hope.
Really? | 8:43 a.m. July 20, 2008
A mega-egomaniac, such as Obama, is our best hope? We are truly headed for total disaster. Bush had his problems but Obama will surly show that Bush was benign. Make sue your 4 year supply is in place, make sure taht you never say anything even remotely, or can be remotely construed, as racist because the racial police will be thick as flies. Obama is an empty shirt with nothing to go on but his ego...

If we get McCain, we'll get worse -- someone who has proved in his past that he will put his own wishes and desires before anything and anyone else, and use any means . . . either honorable or dishonorable -- to get what he wants. (That includes, but is not limited to, breaking promises he's made. That includes his violation of the Code of Military Conduct when he offered and then gave valid and valuble military information to the Vietnamese in return for treatment at a time when he wasn't being questioned or coerced . . . something he specifically admitted in his own autobiography FAITH OF MY FATHERS. Also his breaking his wedding vows with his first wife -- womanizing and then getting a young, blond, rich woman to agree to marry him before he had even filed for divorce). I have yet to see him show any true qualification for the presidency AND it is McCain's ego (not Obama's) that is as big as all outdoors.

I really don't want either of these guys. I just don't want Obama less than I don't want McCain. I really don't want a sell-out like McCain in the White House.
motr | 9:06 a.m. July 20, 2008
Obama? An ego? This is, once again, Republicans projecting their faults onto others.

What Obama has, is intelligence, good judgment and vision. He values ability and professionalism over cronyism. His career has been spent in public service and leadership.

Iraq was a costly and mismanaged mistake. The economy is a mess. Republicans and McCain state that they will stubbornly continue with the policies that made this so. How does digging a hole deeper bring this country back out into the sunlight?

Republican "experience" has not made the USA better, but Obama's abilities, intellect and good judgment will.

Carter's last hope | 9:28 a.m. July 20, 2008
Obama is Carter's last hope to no longer be remebered as the absolute worst President in the history of America, And Mrs. Obama will be the the new Billy Carter, which was a lead weight on the President.

I pray our country can pull its self up from the last eight years of stupidity.

I pray we never elect somebody like GWB again.

I pray Americans will stop listening the devisive creeps like Rush and Henity, and the ever delightful Ann Coulter.

I pray the seperation of church and state can somehow never be highjacked by the lunitic fringe.

I hope and pray our soldiers will stop dying for nothing but the bad ideas of our so-called leaders!
John | 10:05 a.m. July 20, 2008
So anonymous, where exactly ARE we moving forward to?

Having already tossed on monarchy out of the land several hundred years ago, do you consider it moving forward to reinstalling another one?

Obama is about as qualified to lead the US, as my dog, and by the way, I will vote for my dog before I go near this phony.
motr | 11:08 a.m. July 20, 2008
Excuse me John at 10:05 a.m.
When has Obama EVER stated that he intends to instill a monarchy?

McCain, however, HAS stated that he fully intends to continue with the current policies that have weakened this country.

There is nothing more offensive that the bloviating verbage eminating from a narcisscistic pseudo-pundit trying desparately to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Charles Krauthammer takes a decidedly neoconservative view toward political affairs and his comments must be viewed from that perspective. Conservatives will nod their heads and thank him for his insight and wisdom. Liberals will see his position as the antithesis of rationality and their sense of wisdom.

While Krauthammer maintains liberal positions on abortion, stem cell research, and evolution, his conservative bias is evident throughout his writings and commentaries. His focus on Barack Obama as a individual with a elevated view of himself on the political stage is basically a non-starter. No one runs for president who does not have confidence, even if they appear to lack the "skills," whatever they may specifically be, to be president.

George W. Bush, by Krauthammer's measure, must have been really full of himself, as he had nothing but a name and money to recommend him for the position. Obama, on the other hand, is very smart, articulate, and knowledgable. And smart people believe in themselves, as Krauthammer, the M.D., should surely know.
body blow ,body blow!!!! | 11:56 a.m. July 20, 2008
Back off Charles .... you're killing him.... Krauthammer has launched a full on assault of Obama...he's got him backed up against the ropes I like it!!!

"His most memorable work is a biography of his favorite subject: himself." - classic
mark | 1:03 p.m. July 20, 2008
You guys really think this Krauthammer guy makes sense?

I mean look at the statement that "body blow ,body blow!!!!" is getting all worked up about:

"His most memorable work is a biography of his favorite subject: himself."

It actually would be an autobiography, and by default, autobiographies are about their writers. So Chuck thinks he has scored points by stating the definition of something? And assuming that Obama's favorite subject is himself? You would think that Chuck actually knows Obama. And he got the word wrong it is an autobiography.

And I wonder what book he is talking about, "Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance", or "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream."

I also wonder if Chuck has read either book.

No Chuck is just a blowhard.

If you kids all want to read someone who makes sense read Gus Talwynd.
To Carter's last hope 9:28 a.m. | 1:07 p.m. July 20, 2008
Carter is already the second-worst (he got knocked out of the "worst" position on January 21, 2001, thanks to what we suffer with/from now). McCain, if he (heaven forbids) gets into the White House gives every sign of moving Carter into third place.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not all that impressed with Obama. I just recognize that he isn't even close to being as bad as the alternative.

Still blamming Carter | 2:16 p.m. July 20, 2008
This from a party who elected the boy who thought he was king?

Carter was a true Christian he did have values. Maybe, this is why conservatives need to vilify him.

If conservatives read, they would know the economy started to tank during Nixon. This was a result of debt from the War in Vietnam. The problems in Iran can be traced back to 1953. Carter didn't plan the rescue, our military did.

Carter was follow by a president who trained terrorist in Afghanistan, cut and ran from Beirut and increased the national debt.

If anything, electing Obama is a way voters can hold republicans accountable. Kind spoil kids, they have had the luxury of blaming others for their failures.

Quote of the Day...

wrz: since we're referencing quotes

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." George W. Bush — Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002
wrz | 5:51 p.m. July 20, 2008
To Gus @ 5:17.

He should never have started the quote to begin with. Presidents should never be caught uttering things like "shame on me" (end of the saying).

Mitt's dad sunk himself with a seemingly innocent "brainwashed" statement.

B. Hussein Obama probably still stands by his quote.

Mark @ 1:03,

Your little rant against Charles' use of a "definition" was hilarious. How important it must have made you feel!

His status as a professional writer is warranted. He made no literary or grammatical mistake.
Ear | 6:58 p.m. July 20, 2008
This commentary says more about Krauthammer than it does anyone else. I won't be voting for either McCain or Obama, so I'm really not interested in what either of them has to say anymore. They're both so far out there that I find almost nothing appealing in either one. That being said, Krauthammer goes way over the top when he accuses Obama of promising to do more healing than Jesus did. Why this newspaper continues to publish trash coming from Krauthammer is beyond me.

When has Obama EVER stated that he intends to instill a monarchy?"

The term is "install" and taking all of our money, and giving it to whomever he chooses, is the act of a King, not a President. Bush does it, and there is heck to pay. Obama does it, and he is wise, and intelligent?

Obama is a first class idiot, with zero experience in life, let alone politics. He slides from left to center based on where he is talking, he ridicules average working Americans, and he has already shown us how dedicated he is to America, but becoming a Senator for three years, and showing up for work 130 times.

It doesn't matter that McCain is a loser too. The fact is, Obama knows nothing about running a business, or foreign policy. He will destroy this country with his own love of self, and people who think he is anything more than a hollow watermelon, are in for a real shock

Plus, he has like, zero chance of living through his term in office. Caveat Emptor

He not only promises to do more healing. He promises to do it while at the same time walking on water.

"Why this newspaper continues to publish trash coming from Krauthammer is beyond me."

Krauthammer is the best pundit in the entire paper.

He cannot be our 'best hope'. Have we lowered our standards for president so far, that we will elect anyone, so long as the press digs them, and the music plays loud enough so we can't hear what he is really sayin? THIS MAN IS DANGEROUS. I want someone in the first chair who knows what a danger wth world can be. We can't just sit in a circle and sing kumbyahy and hope everything will be just fine while bombs are exploding around us.

I want an adult in the white house. not a rock star.
TKO!!! | 9:39 p.m. July 20, 2008
The left wing cannot beat us in the theatre of ideas! Even Bill Clinton figured out that left-wing policy always fails. "Trash" from Krauthammer? What great minds do you all have on the left? Bonnie Erbe? EJ Dionne?Keith Olbermann? John Stewart? Psycho bloggers at moveon.org?
Will, Krauthammer, Steyn, Hanson, Goldberg, Lowry, Malkin ..... people who can actual give you a reasoned take.
@ Mark... dude... you have no sense of humor...lighten up....

Again, all this sounds like is some very uneducated people who can never see anything good, or provide any thing constructive for readers to think about.
Charles | 10:43 p.m. July 20, 2008
You've never had a good thing to say about Obama. I believe you are just against him politically. You are really grasping to have to say he has an over high opinion of himself. Shows you have not much bad substancial to say about him.

Matthew said: "Your little rant against Charles' use of a "definition" was hilarious. How important it must have made you feel!"

What a strange comment, Matthew.

Matthew also said: "His status as a professional writer is warranted. He made no literary or grammatical mistake."

biography |bīˈägrəfē|
noun ( pl. -phies)
an account of someone's life written by someone else.

autobiography |ˌôtəbīˈägrəfē|
noun ( pl. -phies)
an account of a person's life written by that person

He made a mistake on genre. I'm sure he would recognize his mistake, unlike you.

TKO!!! says: "Mark... dude... you have no sense of humor...lighten up..."

Did you make a joke?
Charles | 7:20 p.m. July 21, 2008
TKO...perfect comments. Nice to see someone else realize how brain dead the left is. Change? Anyone see the definition of change BHO wants to institute? Neither have I....
