RE what a joke | 7:39 a.m. July 20, 2008
At least you know your name. That is the perfect name for you. Louie Sakoda is only the MWC all time punter(see Decades Best story)By the time his career is over, he will merit consideration as the all time MWC placekicker. As far as the Utes,(I relize they don't teach spelling at the school down South)we will be mashing teams up into applesauce. The largest batch will be manufactured in Salt Lake City on November 22nd. You may put your name on a waiting list for it. We will happily take your money.

ZI shocked that the DNews would allow what what a joke posted. I believe what he wrote is abusive and offensive.

Sakoda is the top kicker in the nation who works hard at whaty he does. But it is allowed since the Dnews is anti Ute.

Nothing will be better to watch BYU self distruct this year. BYU fans you have 3 starters returning on defense. Your secondary always struggles but last year because if you LBs BYU was able to put pressure on opposing QB's. This year will be different.

Shame on the Dnews to allow people riddicle the mentally challenged. But then again who is the Dnews targeted audience in sports? BYU fans.

yes, the DesNews and KSL are the Cougars media outlets just like the Trib and Channel 4 and 2 news are the Utes' outlets. FoxNews is split down the middle.
it's okay. it is what sells media news and helps folks have jobs. no different than JohnBoy Walton and the BlueRidge Chronicle.

Harline still open and how good was that game in Las Vegas... When we played we won... But the worst team in the league crushed the UTES... This is a trend Ute fans... Middle of the season melt down. Just like BYU's in the first 3 games...

Maybe both can put that behind them and be unbeaten on the big day.....

Go cougars
Utah Man | 11:29 a.m. July 20, 2008

if this the conference is meeting this week
why not talk about that
ED | 3:38 p.m. July 20, 2008
BY ALL MEANS - GO UTES! BUT PLEASE MR UTAH MAN, "BIG HOUSE" REFERS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN STADIUM WITH A CAPACITY OF 110,000, NOT THE SMALLISH 46,000 RICE ECCLES STADIUM.
Spelling again? | 5:11 p.m. July 20, 2008
Utah Man, did you mean "utes benign"? That seems the only thing that would make sense. We'll see you on Aug 30th. That's seems to be the only day of the year you guys don't talk.
re Tyler | 7:05 p.m. July 20, 2008
Once again, zoobs think ONE GAME constitutes a "trend"

1979 UNLV 43 Utah 41
1980 Utah 45 UNLV 29
1981 Utah 69 UNLV 28
1982 Utah 24 UNLV 14
1999 Utah 52 UNLV 14
2000 Utah 38 UNLV 16
2001 Utah 42 UNLV 14
2002 Utah 28 UNLV 17
2003 Utah 28 UNLV 10
2004 Utah 63 UNLV 28
2005 Utah 42 UNLV 32
2006 Utah 45 UNLV 23

But according to zoobs, it was 2007 that was the "trend" <rolls eyes>
re ED | 7:10 p.m. July 20, 2008
Utah Man WAS talking about Michigan's stadium in his post. That's where Utah plays Aug 30.
re: re Tyler | 8:47 p.m. July 20, 2008
The trend referred to was the mid-season loss to an inferior opponent: last year UNLV, two years ago Wyoming, and three years ago SDSU (and arguably CSU-if Utah is as good as their fans think they are, CSU should NEVER be a challenge!)
re:re Tyler | 7:05 p.m. | 2:29 a.m. July 21, 2008
I don't se the game itself as a trend.

I see Utah as a team that has no core, a chameleon.

One week they are smoking UCLA, the next getting shut out by UNLV.

These mis season meltdowns then finishing strong are a trend, and the fault lays squarely at the feet of the coaching staff.

When Utah blew out UCLS, the coaches should have been pushing the Utes to play harder.

Dufferent sport, but same concept.

Jerry Sloan would have had those guys working harder, watching more fim after the UNLV game, reather than letting them think next week was an easy "bye" week.

The trend is Utah is good, but has no heart or core vision until their backs are against the wall.
Typical Utah/BYU junk | 9:17 a.m. July 21, 2008
I get the whole rivalry thing. It's just stupid how it's all that matters. I read the article and thought it is just great that the teams are getting ready for the season. We get to hear from the coaches and players, etc. BTW, I'm jealous Bronco, Jan and Max get to eat at Lucille's BBQ. Good stuff.

This week is going to be a coronation for the King of the MWC (BYU) with recognition of it's cousin Prince (utah). Every one else is just told to smile, clap and honor the royalty.

Go Cougars! (and seriously, Go utes...get to the Big game undefeated so this all can mean something.)
Ricky | 9:27 a.m. July 21, 2008
None of this will matter when BYU joins the BIG 12 next year.
Utah Cougar | 1:35 p.m. July 21, 2008
BYU and Utah fans alike, learn to spell! I can also see the insult that our early morning blogger was trying to make. It is a little embarassing when your media darling is the kicker. I know, a few years ago we had our kicker right on the cover of our own magazine...and we stunk that year! It's going to be a good year for both teams though, good luck Utah at the big house (make us proud) and let's all stay healthy and undefeated until the final match up between BYU and Utah. It will be a great game no matter what, and if we get the miracle season that we have all been waiting for our entire lives, it could mean the difference of BYU going to the BCS or a return trip for Utah. I just can't wait for College Game Day back in Utah.
Go Cougars
(By the way I am a Utah graduate who roots for the cougars. Believe it or not there are more cougar fans at the U than you think.)
