I'm almost as exited about this as I am to become a Dad at the end of the month. I just hope we get to see a playoff match in the stadium. It's not in the bag, but we're in a good position to be there.
need $ | 3:27 p.m. Aug. 5, 2008
RSL has lost sooo much money that it is in a hurry to get into the new stadium!! i see this going south very fast. as a soccer fan i would want them to wait for opening game next year and showcase the stadium.

Great | 3:28 p.m. Aug. 5, 2008
those are going to be fantastic games. the sweet smell of real grass, no pointy ball lines, a seat back, sideboards for Olave to fire Juan Pablo Angel and Kenny Cooper into, the atmosphere of it all...very exciting. get your tickets soon utefan, afterall the utes will be well out of the MWC title race by the 9th of october.

I'd go but it's in Sandy
don't need $ | 5:00 p.m. Aug. 5, 2008
Dont think RSL is in need of any cash... Checketts is fine (already bidding on other teams in other sports) and RSL's valuation is going through the roof. Didn't you hear the franchising fee will get bumped to $50M for new teams? that's up from the $10M that Checketts paid. It's really a matter of getting the fans pumped up about their #1 team playing in a new stadium. Of course, it'll help that people had such a great experience in the last two games when it's time to buy season tickets for '09.

Do I get to sit in the seat I bought for next year at the two games this year?

I have taken two tours of the stadium and am stoked to see a soccer game on a real soccer field.

I am thinking that there will be more than two games there this year!

I can't wait until we put an aquarium in the stadium after the team folds. It's a beautiful stadium but will serve better for high school football tournaments. Last year, there were over 10,000 fans for Alta vs. Bingham in football two separate times. I can see U2 playing a concert there.

I can't wait, this is going to be great. Oh and my wife is coming to, even though she is due to have our baby boy on the 10th. Yeah She's hardcore.
Oh boy... | 9:23 p.m. Aug. 5, 2008
Twice you had 10,000 fans for a high school football game. Yawn...well lets shut down RSL now and just go ahead and let you guys have the stadium. Here is an idea...go build your own.
Tax dollars well spent | 10:50 p.m. Aug. 5, 2008
I would like to thank all you soccer haters out there for the new stadium!!!! You do know that RSL took money from you personally to build this stadium. You could have paid taxes to build more schools, fix the road next to your house or to hire more cops to clean up the streets but instead you desided to build a stadium for the sport you hate!!!!!! Thanks

We are so lucky to have an MLS team and now a new stadium. What's next, the playoffs, Superliga, the Champions League? I see some great times ahead.

Good luck to RSL in their new digs, and please get those lame looking soccer lines off the Utes field!

What? Only 2 remarks posted that rag on soccer being boring, YOUR TAX dollars getting stolen by the Evil Dave Checketts, and RSL folding in 2 yrs? I guess the fact that RSL is in first place is taking a toll on all the haters out there!

I dont think they are in a rush financially to get into the stadium. I think its more of opening the game on National TV on ESPNs Thursday night broadcast.

Instead of listening to all the haters why dont all the soccer, RSL, and stadium supporters rag on Peter Corroon for being such an idiot in wanting to chase RSL out of town after announcing that a deal was done in front of Beckham and Real Madrid? Blocking stadium funding or support in any sports league in the USA has never been a good tactic in winning votes historically. Just ask all those "wise" politicians in Seattle that nixed an arena deal for the Sonics. I think they will be all losing there jobs soon after people there wake up to their Starbucks one morning and realize that the NBA left for Oklahoma City-of all places!

Rhymes with Carroon.

GO RSL!
can't wait! | 11:27 a.m. Aug. 6, 2008
I wish I could afford season tickets and secure a seat, but I'll be there for the final two games and as many games as I can next year. I've been watching the stadium's website all year long following the progress. It's gonna be an amazing atmosphere!

Enjoy it for me. I wish I could be there and look forward to seeing the pictures. Go RSL!
