If we are looking to have this affiliation with the U, then why not "The University of Utah at St. George" for the name of the campus; and the Rams, comemorating the desert bighorns you find all over in the area, as the mascot? It's going to be an adjustment, but it can't be any harder than what Western Texas University went through, after winning the NCAA Basketball Championship, to becoming UTEP.

What a shame that a long and storied tradition and mascot are being discarded. Dixie State has no idea where it is going and what it wants to be when it grows up. I feel badly for them since they were king of the hill as a junior college. Too bad. Bummer for all the old Dixie College supporters . . . .

Wasn't the new mascot the Ronnie REDHAWK??? They are using him all over their stuff, Why not just change the moniker to the Dixie State Redhawks and be done with it. Unless the Redhawk is OFFENDING someone. WHAT IS WRONG WITH REBELS!!!! Isn't UNLV the Rebels too and they aren't considering being politically correct, but they also don't have the liberal PCU (politically correct univ) umm...I mean the "U" breathing down their necks, blackmailing them into changing everything if they want to have any affiliation.
