Thank you for your perspective. I think that's true that some feel like the church rules their lives. It really doesn't, it's a plan of happiness. The analogy I use is that it's like a horse in a pasture. The owner puts a fence around the horse, not to restrict it, but to protect it from getting hurt since the horse may not understand the dangers beyond the fence that the rancher does.
It's all in how you look at it - a fence to force you to be IN the pasture or a fence to keep you safe from the dangers OUTSIDE the pasture.

Ouch! Your logic would only work if ALL Church leaders were unpaid.
The truth is the First Presidency, the Quorum of the 12, and a great many General Authorities receive generous "stipends" (a dollar by any other name would spend as well).
Therefore, your article actually accomplishes the opposite of what you intended. It serves to CONDEMN the Church leaders who are NOT volunteering and who ARE getting paid!
You just looked at the wrong level of the Church hierarchy. If you look at the top, the Church is FILLED with "PATRONS"!!
