this man was in a position of responsibility and trust. he should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, with no plea deals. that's disgraceful!

I find it very discouraging and awful that adults prey on the young like this; part of the purpose of organized religion is to try to police for abuse and avoid all misconduct of its participants.

In the LDS system there are counselors and secretaries or clerks to help check and balance a bishop so that he is not in too many awkward situations or areas of temptation.

I still hold hope that religious endeavors help avoid these problems more than they cause; in this case I sincerely pray that the victims and the predator get the help they need to get over this terrible crime.

A sexual offender of minors should pay heavy consequnces for their despicable acts and their victims should be helped to heal in all ways possible, including continuing in their normal paths to adulthood.

This sickness of abuse affects every society and we need to learn how to precent and deal with it better.

Never completely trust anyone fully behind closed doors; watch for signs and hints of abuse always. Or odd practices, behaviors, viewing habits.

God bless those involved.

Whatever the 'plea deal' the legal system gives him, he will be held to a higher law for violating his sacred duty, and breaking his sacred covenants. His Church also has in place a system for dealing with him for his actions, and that is a very severe consequence.

The damage he did physically to these young girls is obvious, but it should not be forgotten that it also includes the emotional, and spiritual damage he did to them, their families and friends, and his own family. His entire congregation is affected, and his actions could precipitate many to doubt their faith and trust in their Church and their leaders.

Whatever happened to punishment to full extend of the law? Plea deals are so common these days...

If the man is so guilty and there is so much evidence against him, why deal? If it is a slam dunk why is it taking so long?
