Sad that it came to this, she committed no crime except offending the Puritans.

Inappropriate prosecutions like this one lead to the very kind of unreasonable, cover-your-assets behavior described in the article. Why on earth does an 89-year-old (or a 29-year-old) need to show ID to discuss genital piercings unless he or she reasonably appears to be underage? I think if I decide I need some downstairs jewelry when I'm in my eighties, I'll shop around for a business that treats me like the adult I obviously am.
