There's a reason that civil courts exist...to allow the victims to either pursue or turn down the opportunity to seek repercussions on the perp. However, there's also a reason state and federal laws exist about making homemade bombs. God and Bridger's family may require nothing more than a contrite heart, but society and it's laws require that this idiot pay some kind of penance to the rest of us, so the message is sent that it's NOT ok.

Exactly what does he owes us? why he does need to pay penance to us? Are you God? did he sin against us?

Are the laws here for us, or are we here for the laws?

Which is more important: the letter of the law or the spirit of the law?
