After a win like last weeks against UCLA you worry about a down week. However, I can't think of a single instance during Bronco's tenure that they've lost to a perceived lesser opponent. You'd be hard pressed to find more even keeled teams than BYU the last 4 years. I'd be surprised if the Y doesn't win by at least 4 touchdowns.

The Tulsa loss was a game that should have been won last year. I'm not sure if BYU was favored or not, but I'm pretty sure they were.

Aside from that, it is true. The difference between BYU and Utah the past two years has been consistency. That's the mark of a great program. No dropped 27-0 shutouts from the rebels that's for sure...

I was surprised last evening watching ESPN and Lou Holtz did this question and answer segment where the call in people were people like Auburn's Tommy Tubberville, the golf professional Jack Nicholas, etc. One question was about which was more important to get the team physically or mentally prepared for a game. Holtz said you use your Sunday to Wednesday practices to get the team physically prepared and the rest of the week for the mental part. I thought, "Sunday". Don't most teams give their kids off Sundays if they are playing Saturday games. I'm not talking religion here, I just can't imagine demanding that kids practice six days a week and playing on the seventh. I thought they only practiced Sundays when they had a Thursday game or something. I feel sorry for college students that only get off on the bye weekend during the season. Amazing that BYU can be successful with giving off the team every Sunday.

and then... | 4:37 a.m. Sept. 20, 2008
Look at this guys projected scores and let me know if you think he has blue goggles on. The only large margin is for the cougars? and NM even losing?

BYU will win this game, but the problem is going to be if they beat the Las Vegas line of (was it 13 pts?). Coaches and Media voters in the polls are expecting a large margin of victory, so if the cougars don't achieve it, the voters will take it as a sign of inconsistent play. Most don't watch the game, and to crash the BCS, you can't just be perfect, you need to exceed expectations too.

No let down... just a steam roller!

No problem with his score projections....
NM is suspect (see TCU game) and Tulsa is undefeated.
Jury's still out on UNLV, but he gave them the benefit of the doubt.
Air Force ALWAYS gives Utah fits.
Vegas line on the BYU/Wyoming is 28, not 13.

to see what physical level the Cougars play against the Utes this year. Dick Harmon is right...have you noticed how many players from opposing teams have been injured this year? I think there were at least 5 or 6 from UNI, 3 or so from Washington, and another 3 or so from UCLA. Face it Utes...if the Cougar's defense gets a good shot or two at Johnson, it's over.

The cougars are tuff and ready to kick the Cow Pokes butt.

I can tell that Hall is getting a big head. Maybe deservedly so, but hopefully it doesn't affect his team play.

The Utes are going to be handed their stadium by BYU. Watch for Hall to cut up the Utes for more acreage than an Oklahoma land race.

Dick, you crack me up. BYU is sooooo tough. What does practicing without pads have to do with injuries on game day? Injuries have to do with force, angles and situations. Conditioning plays a role as well. Several years ago I watched Oklahoma's QB blow out his ACL in the open field with no players within 10 yards. This stuff tends to even out over the year, so knock on wood. And hope Hall doesn't get blindsided too much.

I tend to take everything Dick Harmon says with a grain of salt, but I'm sitting here now going over the day's scores and his projections and he was right on. In fact, at the moment, the TCU-SMU game is exactly as he called it (though it's still the 3rd quarter). Almost every other margin of victory is very close. I've got to give him props on his predictions this time.

Harmon's predictions vs results (Predictions first, results second)

TCU 34, SMU 7
TCU 34, SMU 7, third quarter

TULSA 34, NEW MEXICO 21
TULSA 56, NEW MEXICO 14

COLORADO STATE 21, HOUSTON 17
COLORADO STATE 28, HOUSTON 25

UNLV 24, IOWA STATE 21
UNLV 14, IOWA STATE 0, half time

UTAH 28, AIR FORCE 21
UTAH 30, AIR FORCE 23

BYU 42, WYOMING 9
BYU 44, WYOMING 0

Other than the Tulsa/NM game, he was dang good.

He's good, cause he is an insider.
