Good luck to you Wilson at BYU!

This is another big get for BYU. Hopefully they will be able to run the table on the other 4 and 5 star recruits they are waiting on.
Tough luck Utah losing a favored son to your biggest rival.

Good Luck Richard!
He's a very standup young man who has a great head on his shoulders. He'll work his tail off. And it won't surprise me if he ends up playing at the LB position. Just the way he's built, and the way he can move, makes him a Potential Stud on Defense! But I know he wants to play TE. Maybe that'll change in time!

Notice that the bigggest local recruits are being recruited by talent rich LSU? Wonder why? Sounds like Gary Crowton territory.

So, when do his college start-next year, 2010??
2009 Recruiting Coming Together | 1:31 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Richard will be BYU's 4th 4-star recruit this year.
Xavier Su'a-filo would be the 4th and there are still 3 other 4-Star recruits that are looking good for BYU plus Manti Te'o who is a 5-star recruit and the #1 strong side linebacker in the nation for the class of 2009 that may end up at BYU.
They also have a number of 3-star players already committed.
BYU could end up with a top 20 recruiting class for 2009 and don't even get me started on 2010 (could be a top 10 recruiting class with the #1 QB, an LDS kid from Washington State looking good and the top linebacker in S. California and top 5 LB in the nation considering BYU as well as Bronson Kafusi of Timpview which is one of the top D-linemen in the country already commited to BYU)
Get ready Ute fans, you guys better try and beat us this year, cause it won't be happening again for the foreseeable future! ;)

Yewts better start picking up the scraps. I hear there is still some talent down in Manti, Gunnison and Kanab.

The Washington kid just can't quite make up for this loss. Richard had offers from LSU, Tennessee and Miami (yep, tight end U)and still chose the Cougs over all of them (and us). Richard was a long-time U fan too. Really hurts right up in there, ya know. Hating life right now despite the bad PI call we got to beat Oregon State.

This Kid is the real deal and as good as a HS TE gets! X is the same as an OL. Coach Anderson has some more Florida and Virgina talent too. Who would not want to be part of what Bronco's got going in Provo? Look for nearly all 4 and 5 star recruits in Utah to go the same route. America's most powerful offense is turning heads and changing minds.

BYU fans can't help themselves today can they? First, they overtake the Utah v. Oregon St. recap blog and sully it with their many tiresome complaints. Then, they can't help but take not so subtle jabs at Utah's recruiting efforts in an article about their own team's recruit. I guess the obsession with rival team label doesn't just apply to the red fans anymore does it?
Great job, Bronco, in his recruiting efforts. However, so far, Kyle's "inferior" recruiting efforts have proved more than able in terms of competition and future growth. Congrats, but you BYU fans aren't making any of us worried with your boasting.

This was a great get for all cougar fans. I have known richard through football for a number of years and in all the games that i have been in with him, he has always been one of the most respectable young men you will find. Every game in have with him, he has always been a class act. Thanks Richard, and welcome to BYU. Also, the defense might have a spot open for you. HEHE
RE: Great Get. | 3:22 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Are you allowed to say HEHE at B.Y.U.? I thought is was just yea yea and nay nay.

Why do you have to hate on Utah? Utah will be just fine. They are building a stellar squad. The Washington kid is going to really turn some heads up there next year, you watch. He's playing with a stress fracture in his foot for the last two weeks and probabaly for the rest of the year.
Congrats BYU, but keep doing your thang Utah.

Getting overly excited about recruiting is silly. Yes, it's a good pick up, and hopefully he'll succeed. But it's too hard to know if high school success will translate into college success. Teams like UW, Notre Dame, Colorado, etc always have top-20 recruting classes, yet none of those schools have been in the top 25 in awhile. Remember when Ben Olsen was the #1 recruit in the country?
Lowell | 4:19 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
BYU has done it again! Just another example of purfection. Their getting all the big recruits and will prolly win it all either this year or next. Utah has no hop. They cant even win the recuts they should and they want win the big game in Slat Lake come Nov.
danburtreynolds | 4:22 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
JM, good point.
As a Ute fan, I would have loved to have Richard play on the hill, but, realistically, going to an offense that features the TE is a smart move, best of luck to him. I suppose that BYU fans are forgetting that the #1 rated JUCO DE and 5 star recruit James Aiono is on his way to Utah, and that 4 star (scouts) in state RB Shak shunned LSU to play at the U.
The reality is, stars don't matter. The staffs at BYU and Utah have shown that they can spot talent and develop it. I look forward to some great battles in the upcoming years.

I have heard this song for years by BCS schools. I can guarantee you that for the past 4 years UCLA's recruiting class was rated higher than BYU's and look what we did to them. These rating don't mean a thing. Great high school players have excelled and fallen flat on the college level.
Both Utah and BYU will get its share of top recruits. From then on out it is all about the program. Both programs have proven that they can take high school talent and mold it into terrific teams.
So, please no infantile rivalry induced crowing. Be glad for BYU and sincerely wish Utah the same success. That will make for a great conference, terrific matchup and bowl success.
Go Cougs and Utes.

What a wonderful pick-up for BYU. This young man can really play and will become one of the best tight ends BYU has ever had---and they have had some great ones over the years. I only hope he can persuade Xavier to join the ranks as well.
As BYU can continue to have quality recruits, the road to National Champion is but a few years away.

Who is the jerk who dissed on Kanab and Manti? You know, these programs come up with very good talent even though they are small schools. You know how many times Rich High School Volleyball teams with 120 kids from Freshman to Seniors beat 5A and 4A schools? Do they get on here and diss on you guys? Stop it already! Good luck BYU. Whoever the idiot is that thinks that Utah does not have a chance against BYU, I am a BYU alum and have felt like we have had the most talent the last 10 years, year after year yet how many games come down to the last half of the last quarter and most of the time the last few plays of the game. Stop spouting off idiot Cougar fan. Utah has hung with us every year with inferior touted talent.

Regardless of how highly or lowly rated any player BYU gets is, the only thing that really counts in BYU's future for the players is whether they meet Bronco's criteria for getting them. If they meet his criteria, BYU will do well.
Bronco's method for finding and getting football players and his criteria for them to be eligible for his recruiting efforts is so different from most of the rest of the colleges. It might be fun to talk 5 and 4 stars about recruits, but when you get young men who WANT to be at BYU, and they do have some talent, you can bet BYU is the better for it.
I'm more of a Bronco fan every year. He knows what he's doing.
BYU's success, such as possibly going undefeated this year, will get more and more top players to come here, because they'll know that they'll get the kind of recognition that plays into their NFL dreams.
As time goes on, young LDS recruits will quit looking at BCS teams over BYU because of the MWC stigma (non-BCS conference). Way to go, Bronco!

To RE:Cougar Fan, pot, meet kettle. Really, you call someone a "prick"(screener fell asleep on that one) and somehow you actually think your better than Cougar Fan. Get over it.
To Utah Ute Fan, I can't believe that you would act so shocked about some Cougar fans getting on a thread for a Ute story and trying to downplay the win. Just look at the comments last night by some of the Ute faithful about the BYU win. There is a small percentage on both sides that make us look bad, but I think the majority are some really good fans who know how to enjoy the rivalry and be civil about it.

Inferior talent? | 9:47 a.m. Oct. 4, 2008
It's hard to say Utah has had inferior talent. Number one pick in the draft. Multiple first round picks. All-pro wide receivers. Super Bowl winners. Great running backs. Physical and ferocious offensive and defensive linemen. Etc.
Realistically speaking, the Utes have had better talent since the second half of McBride's tenure. And they have tremendous young men to boot. Terrific coaches.
The programs are very similar to each other. That's why they play so many close games.

If BCS buster team gets a shot at a title it will be because they have help, as a BYU fan I am wearing red everytime the utes are on the field w/ another team. if the U could crack the top ten and the and the Y keeps rolling. our state will be represented well. its good to hear that we are going to gain momentum into 2010 and 2011 with this talent comming up, and with a little help from BCS teams falling on there face we will have that chance sooner than we think!!!

I played High School football with Richards Father The late Shawn Dunn here in Las Vegas. One of the best athletes Ive ever seen and even a better friend and person. It is amazing how time flies.I remember when Shawn headed to Utah to play ball.As a BYU fan(MY dad played there)Im proud to have him on board.Ive never had the pleasure of meeting him but have heard he is a great young man.Good Luck.
Wow!!! | 2:58 p.m. Oct. 4, 2008
How about BYU almost giving up the lead at Utah state? If Utah State doesnt turn the ball over so much they probably would have won, and it should have been 34-21 that BS Hold call on that last TD.

Okay, listen, we UTE FANS admit that BYU has a better program than we do. I truly wish that you had taken Kyle off our hands, but you don't need to be so happy about it (VERY ANNOYING). As a Ute fan, I realize the future all belongs to BYU. Your recruiting base is going to continue to grow and ours will stay the same. BYU is the shining "STAR" of the Mountain West Conference and I'm truly grateful that you guys are still here to lead our conference. We all know that you dominate the conference in just about every sport, but please be more humble and let the rest of us have a little bit of dignity (is that to much to ask).
I realize that BYU has the national respect that we "crave" so much at the "U," but I've learned in life that it is always better to be humble. I acknowledge that BYU is a better school than Utah, but please be a little bit nicer to us as we try to compete. Gooooooooo Utaaaah!!!!!!!

it is obvious that BYU does a better job of recruiting the in state talent than Utah does. For some reason utah doesn't give any respect to their own state's players. Well, just keep letting BYU get them and we will be happy to put them to good use. Kyle, you are an idiot. sorry. i know several players you could have had from this state, but your staff acted like arrogant, self serving jerks, so they went to guess where---BYU. P.S. tell your players to shave and get haircuts and take showers. paul kruger used to look respectable but his environment is taking its toll on his returned missionary standards.
