This is the day we've all been waiting for!!! So, how many s"occer haters" that voted against the stadium do you think will be in attendance tonight and are excited? I would say more than a few.

Stadium Name | 10:43 a.m. Oct. 9, 2008
I think we need to call it the Tinto. Cafe Rio is what I'll always think of first when I hear at the Rio. I can't wait to go to the Tinto!

if you think the pregame festivities are going to be impressive wait until you see what the fans have instore to christen the stadium...
THIS WILL BE A NIGHT TO REMEMBER FOLKS.

Time is here, we have to be ready tonight to show the referee to be fair and not to call wrong against our team. Kudos to Andy, sorry he won´t be shaking the nets tonight. And hope Kreis starts being more vocal during the game especially when having wrong calls and giving directions to his players.
Well, we the player # 12, need to be there chanting and supporting our RSL louder than ever! Take your noisemakers and trumpets See you tonight!! Vamos RSL! GO, GO RSL!!!!
Oil is still $90 a barrel | 1:04 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
So who's paying for this National Guard flyover? Taxpayers, I'm guessing?
Stadium nickname... | 1:22 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008

re:great day | 1:30 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
If this is so great, why did it take until noon today to sell out the game?
Riot or Mine Field | 1:38 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
call it either the riot or the mine field... actually, who cares what you nickname it... IT IS OUR FIELD!
Re: Oil is still $90 a barrel | 2:01 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
just like the Utes games, Cougar games, parades, high school football games, etc.
re:re:great day! | 2:08 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
If this is so great try filling up a 65,000 seat stadium like we do at Lavell Edwards Stadium
The Mine Field | 2:11 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
That is an awesome name!

Congratulations on your new digs Real
fan's.
Have a great time tonight.
RE:re:great day | 2:13 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Because the left over seats are for big-whigs and cost more than the average soccer-loving-have-been-counting-down-the-days fan wants to pay. They all got their tickets months ago anyway.

Can't wait to watch Javi take control of our new home. I'm kinda of sad Andy won't be on the field and we won't be able to see Espy's trademark flip tonight. That would be the perfect way to celebrate the opening night:)!!!!

GOOOOO REEEAAAALLLL!!!!!

A sell out is a sell out! And I'm happy to say I'll be there. I live in Ogden and don't get off work until 6:15 so I hope I have enough time to get there and be a part of the opening ceremony. I'll be sad if I miss it.
And I vote to call it the Rio!
Re: Oil is still $90 a barrel | 2:24 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
You, personally are paying for it. They'll be by to pick up the check sometime tomorrow afternoon. That'll be $23,000.
Woo-hoo! | 3:59 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Ignore the haters.
It's a great day for soccer fans in Utah.
No tickets for me, but ESPN2 for sure!

Go REAL!

Make some noise for me fans at the game!

How funny would it be, all this build up for two years then. . . . a tie. I would love to see Dave Checketts face if they tie or loose, how embarrasing would that be. I just think it is funny how it is such a big game, the biggest in the history of Real soccer and it took till today to sell out! That just goes to show people that soccer is not on par in the state of Utah. How will the attendence be for regular games if they can barely sell out the biggest game in Real history. Its not that I dislike Real soccer, i am just sick of it being shoved down the throats of public.

I love RSL, but im not a big fan of Checketts. He is a great businessman, but not a great owner. That stadium should still be in downtown SLC, have fun with it though Sandy.

RSL-2 NYRB-1
Wish I was there... | 4:28 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
I was at the first real game in 05, in fact, it was my prom day date... I wish I could be there, the stadium looks beautiful! I'll definitely be putting my studying off for my neuro. exam to watch this game out here in NY.

If you're going, be loud, and love every minute of it

I guess they should not do any training either, because it might cost some money. They use these events as just another way to train the pilots. So this will not cost anyone any more then it is already costing for them to train. So get over it and stop trying to come up with some stupid excuse to hate soccer.

Soccer still stinks. Even new stadium still can't cover up the stank of an awful sport.
field not wide enough | 8:59 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
how bout they treat the players to a decent size field.... the field should be much wider... looks like there's plenty of space... so use it... it'll make for a better game with more possesion and less 50/50 balls

Yawn
No fan here.... | 10:35 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
RSL, Checketts, and Sandy deserve each other. As for me, I wouldn't go to an RSL game if they were handing out $100 bills.
