Rose is a great coach. He is building confidence in young men. This team could have a second dance in the spring. It depends on their choice of wether to dive on the floor for loose balls or not. They have the personnel. Abouo, and Morgan Jewler are nice additions along with Jackson E. Also the Milage has gone up considerably in the Post (PLAYDEAD) era.

Rose=Good
Boylan=Bad, Real Bad!
BYU=Glad
Utah=Sad, Real Sad!

Maybe the BYU basketball team can help get the bad taste out after a disapointing football season. A win over WSU and USU would be a great start. If BYU can beat the Aggies I will be impressed.

a 10-2 season with losses to teams ranked in the top 15 is a disappointing season? Sure we wanted to go undefeated and losing to Utah always hurts but calling it a disappointing season is just a little over the top don't you think
Sam | 10:58 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
BYU will beat the Aggies, and everyone else, going into Arizona St. at 10-0. That will be their first real test. Until then, they will cruise.
RE: Sam | 11:20 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
"They will cruise." Are you forgetting they have a game with Wake Forest? Arizona State will be a tough game, but Wake Forest is a better team and their home court record will be in trouble. Sorry for being a realist.

Prarie View is a Div. 1 team. They play in the SWAC conference.
Ogden High and Logan High | 12:31 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
BYU has some of the states most pathetic programs this week in Weber State(Ogden High) and Utah State(Logan High). Can anyone really remember the last time either of the schools beat BYU. It has to be a long time because I sure can't remember.

Why are we even playing Logan High in the Energy Solutions Arena? Its like the Marriott Center in Salt Lake.
Aggie Blue | 12:35 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
All BYU fans who are so arrogant to say that they are the best in the state should think again. USU has proven this decade who is the elite in basketball.
Anonymous | 12:44 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
hey when was the last time BYU came to Logan High?? I rememeber they lost. So that is why we play at ehe ESA because Bro. Rose won't play them there. How pathetic is that.
To Aggie Blue | 12:46 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
And you're NOT being arrogant? Where's the kettle!?!
My goodness | 1:07 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Aggie fans and cougar fans alike really have not learned how to show class. I'm pulling for the aggies but to say either team is way better and one will 'cruise' is absolutely ridiculous. neither team has played anyone of significance (sorry wsu) and this game at esa will be the first real test for both teams. aggie post play is superior to cougars' but the aggie guard play is suspect at best. it will be a game that will be decided by which coach has a better game plan. obviously i think stew will but only time will tell. let's talk smack but geez, be realistic or you make yourself look like an idiot.
RE: Ogden HIGH | 1:11 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
LOL typical byu moron

Let's see, byu has a losing record in ogden but has beat weber 5 in a row. byu beat weber in overtime in ogden last time.

lets see, byu has lost 5 of the last seven to logan high as you call usu. is that hard to remember? I dont this so.

Woulda been 6 losses of the last 8 but byu decided to NOT go to logan last year so they didnt play for the first time in over 100 yrs straight. go byu!

ill put my money on usu at the delta center...will byu ever dare go back to logan? no...
thus far | 1:12 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
thus far weber's opponents are 12-9.

byu's are 7-25

only long beach was a half decent team byu has played thus far.
byuNOT | 1:15 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
byu has won 2 straight in ogden.

this will end tonight.

how come byu has never brought a student to a road game? do they not travel to the instate games?

usu and utah bring lots of students, guess they dont have curfews...

usu may not be able to beat byu 100% of the time in basketball but at least they always have a respectable road crowd.

usu has only beat byu 72% of the time this decade home and away combined.
utah state | 1:18 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
funny how usu has become a joke with such a cupcake non conference this decade yet byu doesnt dare come to logan and usu keeps beating up on byu in basketball.

all cupcakes...including byu.
byu will cruise? | 1:20 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
yes byu will cruise past weber just like last time in ogden.

byu "cruised" past weber in over time after a weber guy goal tended a shot for the win.

LOL

RE: wblue

Yes it was a disappointing season even though football went 10-2. Look at the teams goals. 1. conference champs 2. BCS bowl Please don't tell me the "Quest for perfection" was only meant to refer to spiritual things. I could have handled a loss to the Utes, but not by 24 points with 6 turnovers. (Was Hall bribed with filthy lucre?)Clearly the team was indeed overrated. It will be interesting to see if they play with any emotion at all in their bowl game. RE: My Goodness Nice post. Finally all the nonesense posts from b-ball Aggies and Cougars can move over for a real game.
Just the Facts | 1:35 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Going back to 1999...

1999 82-73 BYU wins in Logan
2000 69-67 BYU wins in Provo
2001 90-81 USU wins in Logan
2002 66-56 BYU wins in Provo
2003 76-74 USU wins in Logan
2004 71-57 USU wins in Logan AND

84-62 USU wins in Provo
2005 91-80 USU wins in Logan
2006 75-62 BYU wins in Provo
2007 No game

It looks fairly evenly matched with each team winning at home other than BYU winning in Logan in '99 and USU winning in Provo in '04. Note that the teams played twice in '04 to make up for BYU's football team getting out of playing in Logan one of those years. No game in '07 because Rose thought USU should come to Provo (or play at a neutral site) because of the extra '04 game in Logan when it was BYU's turn to get beat up on in Logan, as can clearly be seen in the pattern (games played in Logan on the odd years, in Provo on even years). I think this game should be a great game and a good gauge for both teams to see where they are.
Re: Anonymous | 1:44 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
What good does playing USU in any sport do the Y? None. Rose isn't scared about playing USU he simply wants to raise BYU to another level and playing USU won't get us anywhere fast.
Time to compensate for a | 2:10 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
terrible football season. I think the hoops team we turn some heads. I saw USU play and we can beat them. WSU not a problem at all. Hopefully this will help erase this painful football season with so much promise but more ultimate disappointment. We stunk it up big time on the football field:(
Why? | 2:13 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Why is everyone sounding like a USU win over BYU would a impressive. As an Aggie I have to tell you that I'm not real impressed with this years team. As has been stated they have really played nobody yet and there have been moments in those games when I've wondered if they could really compete against stiffer competition. A USU win over BYU would impress me more than the other way around.
Just the Facts | 2:17 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Rose wants to play a cupcake preseason schedule to pad his wins to attempt to get an artificially high ranking (not unlike what the football team is doing these days). My impression is that if it were up to him he wouldn't even play USU, or Weber State for that matter, because he doesn't want to risk losing a non-conference game to them, despite the years of history and tradition of playing the other in-state schools. Fortunately, he doesn't get to make all the decisions and there are those who realize the importance of the in-state games and what they mean to the fans of the programs in the state. Personally, I think if he could win a game or two in the big dance that would do much more to "raise BYU to another level" than avoiding challenging in-state matchups.
Ogden High = Utah Troll | 2:24 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Typical childish antics from adolescent Utah fans: post some ridiculous statement that can be erroneously attributed to a BYU fan, then sit back and watch the food fight begin.
re: thus far | 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Is that Long Beach St. team that beat Weber State 69-73 the same Long Beach St. team that BYU beat 75-65?
hsfootballfan | 2:32 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
re: post 1:44,

So you are saying byu is on another quest for perfection? Well good luck with that. IF byu was ever as good as they thought they were then you would have year after year of undefeated seasons. This year is no different and Utah State will show up and kick the coogs around once again! I wish the Aggies would quit playing them and get on with playing teams that help their RPI. Rose is a coward and it was proven last year.
casual fan | 2:35 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Go Weber!! I think the mighty Cougars will fold as soon as they play a half-decent Division I team.
LOL rose | 2:40 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
ya raise byu to a new level by not playing usu, a team they have lost 5 of the last seven.

good point, if they play a DII they have a win, not a loss to the aggies.

not playing last year's wac champion, that is a good way to improve your program! I agree!!

I think byu hates USU because they have one a NCAA tourney game this decade and BYU hasn't

Even little Weber has 2 NCAA Tourney wins since BYU's last NCAA win in...1993.
byu/weber | 2:43 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
byu will lose to weber and then to usu at the delta center since they're afraid of Logan.

USU should take this as a compliment that BYU thinks of them as say Duke or North Carolina.
BYU patty cake patty cake | 3:20 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
BYU is employing the same strategy in bball as the football team, duck and run! It works well until you hit a road block (TCU/UTES), wait they are both in conference, so where was the out of conference prep? Northern Iowa or USU:) BYU AND ROSE would have NO PART OF WSU or USU if it didn't cause even the local kids to call him a coward. BYU is lame to pull this strategy just like USU is. Both schools should always play in hoops and BOTH schools should play real teams outside of conference. BYU is headed in the wrong direction, patty cakes:)

DUCK AND RUN COUGARS-maybe you will become the DUCKS instead of the Cougars.

GO BYU DUCKS:) hahaha
THE PROVO DUCKS
RISE AND SHOUT THE DUCKS ARE OUT.

Come on Coogs show some steel and play some real teams in football and basketball. It will only make you better.
usu | 3:24 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
usu has a good ball program.......BYU has a much better one (right now) back to back regular season champs in a much better conferance! you cant argue with that!
RR | 3:25 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
If BYU struggles vs Weber, that would be surprising. ISU is a decent team, and Weber should be a little easier for BYU, but Weber may come very ready to play, because every Utah team gives BYU their best shot.

I also agree that the one poster who got everyone riled up was a rival post, and everyone took the bait. People, don't be so gullible. I know every Aggie is dreaming of a win over BYU, just one win. It's funny how every student at USU has their life revolving about dreaming of beating BYU. Not even Utah is that obsessed.

BYU has done in the Delta Center (I'll always call it that) They beat #3 Oklahoma State and was close to beating MSU there.
ncaa tourney win | 3:39 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
weber and usu have a better shot at an ncaa tourney win this year than byu.
ESA or Delta Center | 4:01 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
I heard the game was going to be played at the Energy Solutions Arena. Has it been changed to the Delta Center? Where is the Delta Center I haven't every heard of it?
re: byu/weber | 4:14 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Um right. I don't think BYU considers USU quite that highly. I should also point out BYU only lost to No 1. North Carolina by 10 last year. The fact is BYU can put up a battle with anyone in the country. Who has USU battled lately?
Re: RR | 4:27 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
I disagree with you on one account. When it comes to caring about who beats who. Nobody shows it more that Utah and BYU fans. It only seems like USU cares more because it isn't reciprocated as highly from either BYU or Utah.
BYU REALIST | 5:41 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
i have honestly thought all week about how diffecult it will be fot byu to beat utah st. if byu comes out of that game with a win, it'll be a feather in their cap! utah st. is a fine program with a very good coach. may the best team win.
RE:RE: byu/weber | 7:09 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Uhhh are you really asking that question brainiac? You and U and you. You are not looking at the obvious. BYU is an obvious top ten program in the country so as an Aggie we seek you out to play anywhere except where pignose rose wont play.

Go Ags!!!

Good game. Anyone know what has happened to Noah Hartsock? Injured? Other bad news? Thanks!
