Just curious, is Sarkisian LDS?? If so, that would be pretty cool from the point of view of this Husky fan.

Steve Sarkisian is not LDS. He was asked once while at BYU if the Honor Code clashed with his personal beliefs and he said that they coincided with his beliefs. I believe he is a Catholic

He should not be considered for the job if he is not LDS! That is a bad example to the youth!

very funny BYU BLUE. Oh wait no it wasn't

I hope that Sarkisian will indeed be their new coach. I hope that he does well. College FB is filled with so much expectation that it is pretty much impossible to match. Look at BYU. To many, this is a let-down season after 2 consecutive conference championships. Look at the SEC!

I hope that at a minimum Sarkisian is able to lead them to some bowl appearances.

Hey, they can only go up!

Panic hire. The OC they should have hired is Dan Mullen. SC's offense has not been the same since Bro. Chow left after Pete Carroll got jealous.

In this most PC of universities you can bet that Sarkisian was vetted early and often. No way would U-Dub hire a Mormon head coach.

Keys for U dub to get back on the football map:

---Sark needs to bring some honor-code like attitudes. With the scandals they've had there, it would be good to have a "living right" feel (though TW did a good job at that, too---without much success).

---They also need to schedule at least 2 cupcakes every year (ex: Idaho and Eastern Washington). The other two non-con games can be vs decent/great opponents (e: OU and BYU).

---Hire good ancillary staff. Why do you think Joe Pa has survived so long?

---Give 2-3 years. At best, these guys will be 3-9 or 4-8 the next few years. By year three or four, if Sark hasn't done much he'll be canned...

this mean KW is getting an offer he could not refused from the Running Utes?

Hey, the bar is set pretty low up here, especially if heavily favored Cal beats them this Saturday. If recruits can fog a mirror and tackle grandma they're in. (If they shatter a mirror to stab grandma, even better.)

The athletic department is famous for one bad hire after another. They don't need a search committee they need an exorcism.

With all due respect, I think it's a GREAT hire for UW! They still have Everything you could want to structure a National Championship winning team--being a large and attractive metro area, being in a BCS conference, and a proud and rich tradition that includes winning MNCs. Sarkisian has West Coast ties that will help him recruit from the area the Huskies have always done well in.

The ONLY thing this program needs is excitement, swagger and better recruiting and coaching, all of which UW can offer in buckets!

Personally, I think it would be Great if they resurrected their series with The Y, start a series with The U (like Oregon State did) and reestablish their Greatness in the West.

Once we get rid if the stench of Willingham and Neuheisel, there's no reason we can't be a major power again in a very short time.

With all of the wonderful attractions the Huskies have to offer how about being able to pull up to the stadium in a boat.

What this program needs is a coach with a little bit of flare with a little intuition willing to take a chance, instead of playing it safe and by the numbers.

If I wanted by the book I would search YouTube for some highlights of Woody Hayes.
USU got a better coach than | 5:06 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008
UW regardless of who is Mormon and who isn't. Why do some BYU fans even post dumb things like "Is he Mormon?" It has NOTHING to do with college football.

Why haven't some Utah fans learned to read?

It was a Washington Huskies fan who asked "is Sarkisian LDS??"

A reasonable question from a Husky fan, who is probably also LDS, and who knows that Sarkisian played at BYU.

Unless, of course, you're a Mormon or BYU hater.

The question didn't imply anything about whether being LDS had anything to do with coaching.

They would have known yrs ago when Sarkisian wore the powder blue. They have since been on a "Quest for validation" and lost sight of ancient history.

The question of potential demoniation has everything to do w/ the mentality of what appears to be most Y fans.

For example, Mike Leach (TX Tech coach) is. Former Baltimore Ravens Brian Billick went to the Y but isn't, Ty Detmer converted, etc...

I'm the "idiot" who asked if Sark is LDS..

Sorry about that..

I follow BYU as much as I can from my sojourn through Texas and South Dakota...
Apparently, I made the horrid error of not memorizing everything about every BYU player...Oops..

As an active LDS, I was just trying to find out if we had another head coach who was LDS, hopefully an active and faithful guy!

Hey, I wanted to make the same "stupid" post when I wanted to find out if the new fb coach at Navy is LDS...Another dumb idea..

Hey kids, I follow UW and BYU as much as I can but I have a life, too!

BEST OF LUCK TO both those Great programs and to WSU and USU, too!

Now you know who to blame!

Best regards,

It has as much to do with college football as "is he a Christian?" Apparently religion has a lot to do with college football. Just ask Tim Tebow, he would agree with you.
